Well, it's not Ronald Belisario. Seriously, that guy Herd had a poll on who is the "face of baseball"... to those polled....and Babe Ruth came up with 2% of the vote. Not bad for a guy born in the 1800's, right? Now I could see Lou Gehrig, or Joe Dimaggio, or, like for me, Jackie Robinson. As much as loved the Duke, Jackie is The Man....always. But that's for old traditional guys like me, I get that. But the largest percentage...was ARod. fucking ARod. mofo....thanks for the legacy on that guy as the "Face", Selig. And it is your fault, Old Yellow Stain. My vote for Face of BB now, hands down, not only for his excellence as a player, but for his work just as a caring human being, is Clayton Kershaw. Right in the same mold as Roberto... But Alex Rodriquez??? C'mon, we're better than that aren't we?
The nature of baseball makes it hard to pick one face. Guys hit 4 times in 3 hours and the best pitchers pitch once a week. But if I have to choose one I'll say Miguel Cabrera, if the Angels could win anytime soon it would become Mike Trout.
Colin Cowherd is probably the only person on this planet who's more of a blowhard than Barack Obama... WGAF what he puts on his show? He probably rigged so he could tell people they were wrong and toot his own horn.
Who are the real candidates? Jeter Kershaw Wright Tell you what, Jansen earned some style points after I read that article in the times. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseb...ansen-20130911,0,1622130.column#axzz2euF2HIdY
Oh sorry to offend you with what I thought was an interesting question. yes, you're right...of course. I should have known it was rigged. I don't even know what that means, actually....it took me ten minutes to figure out WGAF means "who gives a fuck".
Colin Cowherd is one of the string of guys who think its good radio to have a strong opinion when nobody asked for it. But given that there are no dynasties at the moment, I think Derek Jeter holds the honor by default. Clayton Kershaw is awful close to that title because the dude is fuckin perfect in every way.
I think it's kinda sad that people still think Jeter is the face of baseball. Miggy/Trout/Molina (Hell, even Kemp got pretty huge after 2011 and most of 2012).
Jeter has the hardware and the uniform of the most well known, popular and successful baseball team of all time. And New York city too. I'm not saying it's deserved, it's just the way it is.
