So what your saying the only comparable bats to Kemp's in this year's and next year's free agency are two OF's. Hmm here I was thinking we were trying to get rid of OF's.

    Next year has:

Ian Desmond - As good as Kemp? No, but pretty good for a SS.
    Yoenis Cespedes
    Justin Upton

(Could move 2 OFs and have a spot for one of the latter 2)

Just off the top of my head.

maybe for 2 or 3 years if they're lucky and then he's done. he's already 30. he probably never sees the playoffs again in San Diego.

no, that was off the top of my head..

and i'd trust both of those players before i trusted an older/more injury prone Kemp, so once again..Lol @ Kemp's caliber. we should be able to get Paxton or Walker for Kemp and 50M right? wrong. teams aren't valuing Kemp like that.

good eye on Desmond. forgot about him. there are some others. Gattis has been on the market. Jason Heyward is a FA after next season as well ( one for your people who don't think Joc will work out). of course other bats will end up being avaliable on the trade market as well.

and that's aside from our own young guys coming up and getting a chance. people just need to get over it. it's happening.

Lee was a top 100 two or three years ago, and now he's nowhere to be found...

and that would mean start with him at the 5th spot, leaving Haren as the 4th... not the best combination...

I highly doubt that was because of Kemp (at RF, not CF) and/or Ellis (both of the losses after this trade)... that defense problem was more SS and Kemp CF... anything that replaces Hanley will be a defensive upgrade, and Puig is solid at CF...

you have to watch out with Rosenthal..he's probably just throwing names against the wall at this point. but i do think something is happening..seems like he's trying to get out in front of it.

i like Ross though..Tyson Ross' lil brother. he's got multiple plus offerings.

Rosenthal threw Elfin's name against the wall as well.

i just want Gabe Quintana included in any deal.

I think we are all saying the same thing here. We just want to make sure that if we are giving up a PROVEN top-20 hitter and average fielder, that we get enough of a return for him. Kemp's contract, as I wrote last night, can be considered even somewhat valuable since I think he gets more in the open market now.

Grandal cannot be the center-piece of this deal in no way, shape or form. I may have Dodger Blue glasses on, but I'd rather see if AJ can regain his form and become what he has just 1.5 years ago and, IMHO, I think he can.

Look, the OF situation has to be dealt with. Puig, Kemp, CC, Ethier, Joc and SVS is just too much to have. I'm down with trading one or more of these guys, but we have to make sure that we get what we need AND want. Clearly, my preference is to trade Ethier and Joc which will give us 4 OFer (plus Heisey) and it would be ideal. Puig CF, Kemp RF, CC/SVS platoon LF.

Ellis wouldn't be a loss after this supposed trade. not until Grandal proves he can handle lefties. and then Ellis would probably catch most of Kershaw's starts as well.

Joc is an upgrade over Puig in CF and Puig is better in RF anyway. and yes, anybody will be an upgrade over Hanley @ SS, but the loss of Hanley is fueling the desire to keep Kemp, so it's all connected.

anyway, Seager's ETA is 2015 and if everything goes well he'll probably make it up in June or early July.

Didn't Chris mention he was probably a september call up and 2016 is when he'd be starting?
