If this continues, I'm gonna concede to their genius. They were patient with Grandal when it looked to me like his shoulder was going to set him back for a long time. The rotation is annoying to watch but it's working. And if Kershaw and Hill come back, our rotation is easily better than SF and poised to do big things in the playoffs. They stayed patient with the bullpen and made great moves. As I've said a million times, their first offseason was amazing. They turned an aging, unathletic middle of the diamond into Grandal-Seager-Pederson by letting Hanley walk and trading Kemp. Other than some heat of the moment comments, I've maintained a C+/B- (because they make some mistakes too), but I'm leaning towards B+. They don't let the writers, talking heads, or other teams dictate what they're gonna do. The cost for major additions like Sale were prohibitive and I commend them for not giving in.
Seager, Grandal, Joc has to be the best trio of up the middle guys in the game. They arent great in the field but are still really good and each has a particular facet they are pretty great at without sucking at any particular thing. And offensively there are few teams that can boast such power production from what is considered the 3 weakest spots. They are each on pace for around 25 HR. Thats impressive and gives this team a huge power foundation for the next 5 years at least while these guys are in their prime. Obviously corey has way more prime than that but for the next half dozen years we have Grandal and Joc maturing into better hitters they may even get more HR power come their way.
agreed credit where credits due and i was one of the biggest doubters don't mind admitting i'm wrong [especially when it benefits us] but the depth they've preached has paid huge dividends i give them a solid b... which will be upgraded to a+ when they unload puig
You would give them an A+ without a WS ring? C'mon...A+ is perfect man. And there are 6 weeks left...
The starting staff is working because of smoke, mirrors and a strong pen. Not giving them any credit for putting a starting staff together with injury prone, five inning pitchers.
Imagine where we'd be if for not for their completely twisted obsession with sore arm/damaged goods pitchers? First place is great and all but it's because the G'Nats have completely collapsed since the break and what we have now might fare well against the Nats but wouldn't stand a chance against the Cubs or Rangers in the post, and we'd have to win the dreaded WC game to get in.
I concur. Basically for me, bitching is pretty silly if they continue to win the West every year. I understand the October frustration, but they built a team that can win the division; it's up to the players to do their part in the postseason.
