12:27pm: The trade is now official, reports Hernandez (on Twitter). Heyman hears that Gonzalez, Beckett, and Punto are already on their way to Los Angeles to join the Dodgers (Twitter link).

He could extend his career here as he is in decline

Yes but how many pitchers would love to have our new offense and defense supporting them.

Kemp is in the spotlight even more now as he is the leader of what could be his legacy as Jeter is to the Yanks. For once in his career the burden of carrying the team is off his shoulders. The continuous game streak is over and he can take a day off actually not play. He can go 0-17 and still have are you shitting me AGon, Dre, HRam and eventually Crawford still in the lineup. His singles become runs scored. How does one excel and rise to the top when the cup is all cream? He has perhaps one of the greatest mentors to do all of that in Magic. He has Lopes and I just realized this week how much of a role Don Newcombe has played in helping him get his act together. He has DBB, for now he still has Wallach and Mota and Hillman and he has CK. He also for now has a quiet partner who he really likes and respects and thats Mark Ellis. Kemp is poised to become the Magic man of baseball and he even gets to have his Larry Birds on his team. Hell he and Honeycutt have a relationship. AGon is a class act and now is in a class organization with a manager who knows how to keep everyone happy and has the respect of the entire league for what he did last year and the first part of this year. If you read the articles Ned and Matt are tight now and that makes Neds recruitment job easier.

Doesnt that tell you something when a player who was once "untouchable" is now available? Hmmmm

This post is for BZ, Irish, VRP and others who you know who you are. We have done a lot of posting over the last couple of years. There are times we have agreed and times we have disagreed but damn dudes did you ever I mean ever dream or think we would be at this point? A freaking payroll next year just under 200 million. A middle of the order like we will have once Crawford is healthy. Our middle of the order is like 5-6 deep. How many freaking gold gloves? How many possible Silver Sluggers. I mean I almost want to thank McCourt for screwing up so badly and than bending Bud over and making him give up the shop to Frank to sell. I mean in some ways this is surreal. It may not all work out as BZ worries but at least we aren't the McCheaps anymore and you know with Kasten this is just buying time while he builds the farm system.

Projected to be out 9 months. Marks his rehab done by May so June/July should be around the time Crawford will be able to come back.
