I understand all that. Maybe I should have been more clear, I just want him in LA with the team. I don't mean I want him suited up and whatnot. Just hangout in the dugout with your fellow teammates.
Every low has its eventual high. The last few years weve had to deal with the McCourts circus makes all the stuff happening this year that much better. Things are looking way up and now, and in the public perception, we are now the new enemy in baseball. I love it!
Best lineup we've had since i've been a fan of the Dodgers. Amazing how it went from the worst lineup i've ever seen as a fan to the best. Mad props to our ownership and Colletti for a huge turnaround.
Also, it is an assumption, but one has to believe the fire wasn't there for Beckett this year and maybe a new, re-energized and motivated Beckett can regain a little form in LA. His numbers in 2011 were ace numbers, so I find it hard to believe that he lost that much in 1 year.
Let's look at the deals that DID NOT get made. I was pissed that we did not acquire Youk. Yes, he could have moved to first and the deal still be completed but what if that was a stickler. Carlos Lee declined a trade. We refused to give up Webster for Dempster and/or Soriano. We did not grab Morneau.. Cliff Lee was pulled back. Simply crazy.
Look at the Dodgers 2011 Opening Day 25 man roster: Pitchers (11): Chad Billingsley Jonathan Broxton Lance Cormier Matt Guerrier Blake Hawksworth Kenley Jansen Clayton Kershaw (L) Hong-Chih Kuo (L) Hiroki Kuroda Ted Lilly (L) Mike MacDougal Catchers (3): Rod Barajas A.J. Ellis Hector Gimenez (S) Infielders (6): Jamey Carroll Ivan De Jesus Rafael Furcal (S) Aaron Miles (S) James Loney (L) Juan Uribe Outfielders (5): Andre Ethier (L) Tony Gwynn, Jr. (L) Matt Kemp Xavier Paul (L) The 2012 25-man roster, as broken down by position: Pitchers (12): Chad Billingsley Chris Capuano (L) Todd Coffey Scott Elbert (L) Javy Guerra Matt Guerrier Aaron Harang Kenley Jansen Clayton Kershaw (L) Josh Lindblom Mike MacDougal Jamey Wrigh Catchers (2): A.J. Ellis Matt Treanor Infielders (6): Mark Ellis Dee Gordon (L) Adam Kennedy (L) James Loney (L) Justin Sellers Juan Uribe Outfielders (5): Andre Ethier (L) Tony Gwynn, Jr. (L) Jerry Hairston, Jr. Matt Kemp Juan Rivera Now, think about our current roster.
That's my thing too. This trade can easily be a monumental steal for us. I don't get why people are hating. We gave up two pitching prospects for a top 5 first basemen (defensively and offensively), an ace if he regains form pitching in the NL West, and a former all star just about every year before injuries got to him in Boston. This is a great trade IMO. We all love De La Rosa and Webster too, but you're getting Adrian Gonzalez. They're also giving us Beckett and Crawford too. I already believe this deal is a steal. We still have Lee.
