The September call-ups are right around the corner. Who gets the call?? Who do you guys see coming up and making an impact and leaving a good impression on the team. Here are some guys who are on the 40-man roster that can get called up. Pitchers - Mike Bolsinger Daniel Coulombe Carlos Frias Zach LOLee Adam Liberatore Juan Nicasio Joel Peralta Josh Ravin Ian Thomas Joe Wieland Position Players - Austin Barnes Jose Peraza Ronald Torreyes Andy Wilkins Scott Schebler I don't see Corey Seager, Jose De Leon or Julio Urias on the 40-man roster so how could they become September call ups?? Will some guys on the 40-man need to be DFA'd?? I would love to see Barnes/Peraza/Schebler/Seager up as position players and then Bolsinger/Frias/Liberatore/DeLeon/Urias called up as pitchers for the BP. Not counting on Urias or De Leon but it would be cool to see at least Urias considering he got a few weeks off with the eye surgery. Definitely want to see Seager called up and hit for the cycle against the VaGiants!!!
Poor Zack LoLee...it is what it is. Definitely the veterans, given DBB's history. Except for Bolsinger, the rest of the pitching looks like a crap shoot, to use a "what the post season is" term. Frias can be damn good, so can Libatore..so can Nicascio...etc.But who knows what version we get? We'll find out soon enough....
My guess is, for sure Barnes and Peraza for position players. Howie comes back if/when healthy For pitchers, Bolsinger and one of Liberatore/Thomas would come up to be another lefty. Frias and Nicasio if/when healthy. That's already like 5-8 guys which is leaving you a crowded team. After that, it depends on whether or not they want to bring up Urias, Seager, or JDL. They have guys that can easily be DFA'd for a 40 man spot. But Schebler, Ravin, Lee, Coulombe, and Wieland I could see an argument to have them up but at the same time don't see them getting much to do other then playing in blowouts. I'm actually excited for the September bullpen, I feel as if it can be good just going to need to be managed well.
I'm lookin forward to that guy Jesus Christ being called up in September because after today we need a miracle.
Never thought I would say it. I miss: Jim Tracy Grady Little Davey Johnson Glenn Hoffman Jack McKinney Paul Westhead Tom Webster
Keep in mind that OKC's season doesn't end until the 7th, and they will be in the playoffs, so don't be shocked if Seager and Peraza stay down until their season ends. Tulsa's season ends the same day, and they likely won't be in the playoffs, so expect Urias up the next day (According to Eric Stephen), De Leon will probably get shut down as he has already thrown 103 innings (previous high was 77) and will throw 15-20 more if makes his last 3 starts. Would expect Bolsinger, Barnes, Nicasio (off DL), Coulombe, Ravin and maybe Liberatore to be up 9/1, and have Seager, Urias and Peraza join at the completion of their seasons.
Per Saxon - It seems more and more likely the Dodgers will have Urias in their clubhouse in September. At the very least he'll get a look at where he figures to end up soon and, at the most, he brings a live, fresh arm and helps turn the tide.
Does he have to be activated by 8/30 to be eligible for the playoffs? Edit: Dodgers Digest did a write up on Playoff eligibility: http://dodgersdigest.com/2015/08/24/your-annual-reminder-about-postseason-eligibility/
