I don't get it. Gurero has showings could hit but never got plays. Then you have someone like piug and he's terrible now. Maybe it was matts managing an Roberts not giving the chance to handel gurero. Something is fishy but I'm not blaming the manager. They could get a grate reward for piug and maybe put Carlton Crawford in the deal to get more an dump his deal since this team is a couple of years away from winning. I dont know but something is wrong in the ownership. Wright manager. Wrong font office?

That is indeed the narrative you'll get from the alleged 'writers', but what you will actually see is what I've been saying ad nauseum, the FO will promote from within whenever possible and only spend big money on FA when there is no other choice.

If you are expecting to see them go after the 'prizes' you will be sadly disappointed...and I've been telling you this for some time now. Believe the 'writers' if you want to, but they don't know jack schidt.

Have no idea where you're going there, but I didn't even mention racism in my post.
I'm talking about you generalizing a group of people.
You could be doing it in a positive manner and it'd still be wrong.

    credit where credit's due
you have been saying this from day one
didn't believe it -- didn't want to believe it
but after last year's trade deadline and this offseason, it appears you are correct
my problem with this concept is the "only spending when no other choice" part
shouldn't be an exception to the rule imo
if a top free agent (who would greatly improve the team) is available, you should go after him
especially when you're the one organization will all the $$$
    just my :2cents:

    And there is.
We do have to recognize that Greinke was reported to have been close to re-signing before Arizona just went nuclear with their offer.
They're not going to sit on a 70-75MM dollar payroll in 2018, not when the game's premier, young talents could be available.
I assume the TV deal will be completely done by then and they'll be putting one of those stars on display.

We agree on this. I think we were all spoiled for a bit there but now its back to being on the outside looking in at the winter meetings and the deadline.

I get the reluctance, but Kansten was up front about this from the very beginning.

I guesss the very thing that has most fans up in arms is the thing that I admire most. They said what they were going to do and they've stuck to it. If you hate honesty, then by all means, hate the FO.

The good news here is that the farm is a million percent better than it was under McCourt, and we actually have not only prospects that can make a difference, but also prospects we can move to make a difference. (Yeah, I'm a glass half full (of beer) guy.)

    Sounds more like vodka

    :hide:

I like honesty. I just don't like the approach.

    Vodka is good.

Honesty is good. At least you weren't lied to (as many would have you believe.)

Different philosophy, yeah. McCourt gutted it to avoid spending $$$ on impact trades and went to back to back NLCS...and now, we can only hope.

Conflicting reports, but the Dodgers' offer was 5yr/155MM for Greinke.
    Not chump change.

Compared to Arizona's stupid last minute offer, sure.
But as far as this " willing to spend " discussion goes a 155MM offer from LAD isn't chump change.
