I am curious. We suck at 3b and according to MLB.com there are 3 possbile 3b prospects in the top 20. We have the #18 pick.......do you guys think we go after one of them or get a pitcher AGAIN?? Stephen Piscotty, 3B, Stanford - Projected #10 to Rox Corey Seager, 3B, Northwest Cabarrus HS (N.C.) - Projected #19 to Cards Richie Shaffer, 3B/1B, Clemson - Proj
first off, good to have you back spanky second, how do the pitchers in the top 20 look? i know we just signed some players in Latin America, so I guess a lot depends on what they look like... http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/n...120524&content_id=32168340&vkey=pr_la&c_id=la
I'd like to draft some college hitters for a change. I know we can eventually trade pitchers because they're so valuable, but we've been dick at 3B for years.
Always draft best player available period. I'm sure Logan and company will do fine, excited who they get
It is good to be back......been runnin around like a chicken with its head cut off. I have not done any research, just realized the draft was commin up becasue of Keith Law's chat wrap. I am not sure I want to gamble on another pitcher even if they "look good" seeing how crappy our postition players are in the system. Also it did not help that the Josh Bell.....the guy we traded to Balt for Sherrill got traded to the D-Backs and 2 days ago got called up to be their every day 3b. I kinda want to go after a top corner draft pick.
We should have taken Tyler Skaggs in 2009 instead of Aaron Miller. Skaggs was a local kid too, native of Woodland Hills and attended Santa Monica HS. Instead we took Miller and 4 picks later goes Skaggs to the faggot Angels. And now, well, Skaggs is just the 13th best prospect according to BA.
Seager doesnt look like a bad pick, but HS hitters are less reliable than HS pitchers... You cant predict hitting adjustment as you can predict velocity and control
Jesmuel Valentin Diaz, 2B/SS, Puerto Rican Baseball Academy (PR) Posted by mlbdraftcountdown on May 31, 2012 Posted in: MLB Draft 2012, Scouting Reports. Leave a Comment Class: HS Senior Hometown: Manati, Puerto Rico Height/Weight: 5-10/175 Born: May 12, 1994 Diaz is the son of former big-league super-utility man Jose Valentin, and spending years by his father’s side in numerous big-league clubhouses has added polish and a certain big-league panache to his game. Playing on the same squad as top draft prospect Carlos Correa, Diaz hasn’t seen much time at his natural position (shortstop), instead deferring to second base, but the consensus seems to be that he’ll be offered the chance to play there once the two talents go their separate ways. He has all the defensive tools to succeed at short, including a very srong arm, quick feet and great natural instincts. At the plate he’s not much of a power threat, but he’s got a great line-drive stroke. He’s taken up switch-hitting in the past year and while he still has a long ways to go to be a capable hitter from the left-side, he’s shown the same fluid swing.
Okay, we just took two IFers with our first two picks. I have to think that Kasten and company are stressing building from within for hitters. We have a plethora of arms in our system at this point. I really like Seager and Valentin has nice bloodlines. I have read reports that Valentin is a natural SS and will be fine there in the majors.
