Fucking batting practice slider. Needed a single, not a 450 blast. Apparently that concept is beyond his grasp.
I was okay with Joc's first swing, nothing bad with trying your normal swing on that first curve to blast it out of Atlanta But, after that one chance, it's not even about having to change your whole approach to shorten up. My god, just make some contact my man, can't go all out for 3 swings on the same exact pitch
I could understand some nasty pitch, but he's struck out 3 times on a pitch right down the middle. Time to change that approach.
I'm too lazy at the moment, but in a basic sense, since Honeycutt has been the pitching coach for the Dodgers the Dodgers starting rotation has been one of the best, if not the best, in many categories. Now, obviously it helps to have Kershaw and Greinke... and it's a hard thing to try and figure out how much is coach and how much is the player, but it's still impressive
It's not even the pressure situations that Joc can't come through, he just strikes out all the time. Has nothing to do with choking and more to do with just not being good.
I actually think there is a process: Hit the ball as fucking hard as I can when the ball is in the strike zone. It just becomes a very shitty strategy when he's never making contact. He still has a good eye, he lays off pitches out of the zone and swings at pitches inside of the zone. Just, when you're not making contact the entire approach is irrelevant.
yeah, and just going off things off the top of my head, Greinke said Honeycutt helped him a good amount. I don't know if he makes pitchers much better then their potential but is suppose to be outstanding at mechanics and game plans
