quick game recap: Giants hit 2 run HR on a ball with an expected batting average of .090 Teoscar flies out to the wall/possibly robbed of a HR on a ball hit 109.1 mph at 24 degrees. It's expected batting average was .980 with balls hit like being a HR 93 percent of the time. there are no recorded outs in the statcast era on balls hit like that Shohei has two hits and a walk and the only times he made out were on bullshit strike 3 calls by the trash can behind home plate. Ump blows multiple strike three calls and gifts the Giants their 4th run Dodgers lose, Dave roberts and the whole team are a bunch of pussies for refusing to let the garbage behind home plate know about it
Sticking to my no-negativity vow through June 2, and therefore with a game like this, I have nothing to say.
The umpiring, like that pile of shit ( being kind here) effort last night, is just taking the elements out of the best game there is, that makes it great. Like when your slugger is up at the plate in crucial situations and gets completely nullified, multiple times by rampant incompetence. They are altering the joy and magic of baseball. It's not just a couple of close pitches on the corner, like every game ever played has, it's pitches that are clearly not in the zone. Over and over. Why have a zone when its ignored ? I'd rather they do not superimpose the box, it's infuriating and ruinous to witness it. To me, anyway. Just take it away or use the technology available to get it right. Way tired of this visual mantra of blatant nightly displays of ignorance and individual interpretations.
Can't complain about the efforts of the callups. Windblown lazy flyball HR and a gift wrapped run from the home plate ump. No help from a feckless bunch of hitters. Had a chance to knock out Webb early and blew it. Had to know he would settle down.
