Fuck you're right. I was in my 20's in 88 also. But listen, I can no way root for Boston. I just won't watch. Lots to catch up on with the DVR. The Cards do it like the Dodgers used to with farm players, etc... A maybe that's what we're missing.

    Fuck Boston.

We aren't in this anymore. 2013 baseball is over.

I could care less if it's the Cardinals, Red Sox, or whoever in the World Series. I won't watch, won't care.

all you need is 1 player that you like to pull for 1 team over the other. Boston has not a goddamn player that i like. not a 1. STL has Yadi Molina and he's alright with me, so fuck it. go Cards and keep the streak of NL teams kicking the AL's ass alive

I appreciate all those points...well made and stated.
But the Cards, may genital warts proliferate on them, went into this year without their best hitter, and without a BB icon/future HoFer (I guess). And they won.
And it's not really ownership I'm talking about, it's whose spending their money. Sure we're stocked seemingly, with great players. And we've had Manny, too. But we don't win....we go on atruly historic run, turn the season around and make it to the CS, but we lose. We've done it all before, too....more than once. Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe it happens with Ned at GM. Obviously he can load the team with the cream of the crop (theoretically), but why do we always go home with our tails between our legs....and most of the time, in an embarrassing fashion , too. And these owners, really, let's call it what it really is....except for Magic, are these guys really rookies? They know the real deal....they know the game. You don't get to be that rich by being a babe in the woods, unless you're spectacualarly lucky, like Cuban or somebody. These guys have been around the block....there's something missing along the way with us, the type of players we develope... the way we do it, the ones we let go, the combo of superstars and scrubbish players....whatever it is....it just doesn't work. Not to the degree of the Cardinals or the Red Sox or the Giants or whofucking ever...we just fall short. Their is absolutely something missing, something we lack that these other teams have, now and in the past...we all blamed it on McCunt...or Torre...or hitting coaches, etc...all probably at fault to some dgree...but it's still here, no matter what you say, bigger than shit.

I'm sad as hell we lost the more I think about it. I remember that stretch we had where we went 42-8 with amazing winning streaks, and had strong wins vs teams with good records. For a while, we were just above everyone else in the MLB and were the favorites to win it all. Sad we didn't make the WS, but do know we'll be in the thick of things for years to come with our roster and ownership.

that team that went 42-8 could have played with anyone

No way...that team was managed by Don Mattingly. How the fuck could they go 42-8? He surely would've ruined that somehow- someway...well maybe they would've went 50-0.

(note: directed at you irish...just making a sarcastic point for all the haters.) :stirpot:
