Dodgers RHP Hawksworth has right elbow surgery
    8 hours, 2 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (AP)—Dodgers reliever Blake Hawksworth has undergone arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue and shave down a bone spur in his right elbow.

Hawksworth is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks. A team spokesman said Wednesday that Hawksworth should be ready to pitch sometime during spring training and could be on Los Angeles’ opening-day roster.

The right-hander was 2-5 with a 4.08 ERA in 49 relief appearances last season. Hawksworth experienced discomfort in the back of his elbow when he started his offseason throwing program early last month. He was shut down, but when he resumed throwing a couple of weeks ago, the discomfort was still there.

The operation was performed in Los Angeles.

Too bad Ned didn't have a little bone spur shaving himself--on his brain.
I'm not an orthopedic specialist by any means, but is a bone spur something that just pops up, like prickly heat? Logically, isn't a lump of calcified bone something that takes just a little time to occur?
Did this guy get the Jason Schmidt MRI exam, too? He was a huge disappointment, IMO...he came with supposed great stats and high expectations. And the "oohs and ahhs" that I attribute to him was about his speed and his lovely, breast enhanced sister...certainly not in his effectiveness as a ballplayer. Broxton was fast too....I know we all remember big, bad 99 mph John.
Maybe now, he won't suck so much this season.
Of course I'm predjudiced against Ned...but isn't the list of his signings that quickly fail or suddenly need surgery or some kind of medical attention a list as long as your arm?
Maybe that's how and why he gets guys like Jones and Hawksworth; the previous teams actually do have medical staff with bona fide degrees.

Perhaps now. Hawk is not an FA until 2016. He is arb eligible next year. He is 28. If you look at his numbers, he has improved. His h/9 has gone up but his bb/9 have dropped. His whip has dropped since joining the Dodgers. His SO/9 has also raised. If you look at his minor stats, when his WHIP is up, so goes his ERA. I think we actually have a nice tool in Hawk.

Hawksworth was obtained for Ryan Theriot, so he is automatically cool for being worth a shit unlike Ryan

He's also uncool for blowing a 6 run lead with 2 outs in the 9th. He sucks.
