...that Eric Karros is our (Los Angeles) all time HR leader. Will Matt Kemp become the Dodger HR leader when it's all said and done?
He does have 128. I think he will. That eight year contract certainly gives him the chance to break Karros' record. He might inch close to Duke's record.
duke had 389 matt is at 128 if matt averaged 29 hr's it would take him exactly 9 more years to catch him
18 homers a year for the next 8 years to pass EK? easy Passing Duke might be rough, but it's out of the question.
I think Karros being the all-time LA Dodger leader in HRs is not just a product of the team being light on power hitters, but also the team being light on career players in general. I'm 33 years old, and how many players have worn the Dodger uniform for 10 or more seasons in that time?
I never really thought about it but now that I do it's actually kind of sad that Karros is the LA Dodgers all time HR leader... I mean like 'really'? Kemp should FAR surpass Karros. It's also sad to note that no one of consequence has spent a productive career here... Can't we balme Ned for that too?
^Of course, this is Brooklyn & LA Dodgers. I'm surprised at the list. If I were guessing, I would have said Garvey, Piazza, and Guerrero led LA in that order. The placement of EK and Cey would have disqualified me - and I would have lost the 100,000 dollar bonus question. Anyway, Kemp takes this list in no time. Remember, it's 50-50 this year. Next year I'm counting on 60-60.
Wow, so there's a good chance Kemp will be top 10 in Dodgers' history in HR's in just his 6th full season! Also a chance he could be #5 in LA Dodger history by the end of this season. Damn, I really hope this guy sticks in Dodger Blue, we need a beast on this list.
Even when you include Brooklyn, Mondesi cracks the top ten? I enjoyed watching him play for a few years, but I would have never thought he was top ten. However, Kemp needs 36 to knock him out and be 10th on the all time Dodger list.
Duke and Gil will be tough...I think he buries Eric eventually. If anybody can, he can. It's nice as a long time banjo hitting team loyal fan, to be even voting on something like this. Previously, it was confined to "does he win the Cy...or does he get the K record, etc. Not too much hitting. Green and Beltre were standouts, though. And I still like Kent
