    I'm completely guessing here. We have an extra arm at the moment, and were gonna need to send someone down when magill comes up Sunday but just for one day. Maybe they want withrow down now to bring him up in 5 days (you need to wai that amount to brig someone back up non DL related)

    I'm 100% guessing here. Might just be someone went on DL, that's probably it

    With Hanley ready to play every day, and Uribe, Hairston, Shumaker, and Mark all on the roster, the demand for Punto is down. Perhaps a good opportunity to let him rest and recharge.

    Withrow optioned, probably figure that for this series an extra bat is more important than an extra arm, especially with Kershaw-greinke on the bump.

    It still doesn't make sense. Never compromise pitching for an extra bat. Especially when your BP is a huge issue. Even if Kershaw and Greinke go 6-7 innings you need to get the rest of the outs. We already have several people off the bench to hit. We need the extra arm. Not the bat.

    Not trying to sound mean but you're saying youd prefer 13 pitchers and 12 hitters over 12 pitchers and 13 hitters?

    We've only had the 13 pitcher set up for a day and I've always thought that's kinda a waste and never heard anyone really argue we should have the 13 pitcher set up before this scenario

    I don't really care either way, in the long run I prefer 13 hitters but what it'd really prefer is Cruz not here. And I know with our luck were gonna need that extra pitcher like today lol

    That's absolutely what I'm saying
    The way this team is currently constructed having the extra arm is easily more valuable (Under the assumption it's temporary in both cases)
    It's must less likely you'll have to exhaust all bench options. It's much more likely they'll need Withrow
    Managing a bench and a BP are much different things. Withrow is needed to get outs that a Bellisaro and League can't get. With an extra hitter, it's a wash whether or not he'll be used let alone make an impact.
    Withrow isn't a mop up guy. He's someone that'll be used to get outs.

    This is a team that has carried 3 catchers at one point Doyer.

    If it's a wash, I take the pitcher with this team. Too many outs we can't get from the 6th inning on. Give me Withrow over a pinch hitter/runner/double switch with no impact.

    Probably a wash, but on an interim basis, I have t take the pitcher with the Dodger team right now.

    This is a team that's also decided to play with 23 players while they wait on guys' injury status. Now they're so scared of being down position players? Shumaker will probably serve 1 game. Keep the pitcher. Sorry
