We spent months worrying about KJ blowing playoff games for us and we lost without him even being a factor.
Can't get over Soto being 20 years old. Whatever it is, Soto has it. For that reason alone the Guggs should pay up for Stras and break that shit up. As a matter of fact..sign both Rendon and Stras. 6yrs/$210M for Stras, ditto for Rendon. Hope another year out from surgery whips Seager back into shape by OCT. Pray that Lux has a little Soto in him [no homo] and that May can move Kershaw out of the postseason rotation picture. JT takes 1B and Muncy moves to LF.
I believe Roberts managed this series and past series afraid for his job and don’t think Utley has that temperament. Idk, I think he’d be respected, unsentimental, and a proud on field face of the org. I’m totally in favor.
I like the idea. Utley may be a key in getting Seager back and that'd go a long way. Lux would probably benefit a ton as well. And all the fluff would be gone too. Belli is gonna Belli, it seems. Do his Barry Bonds thing..bang out 40-50 HRs during the reg season, and then hit .230 and disappear in the postseason just like Bonds
personally I love the idea but Chase is a guy from a different era he's too real and would say things that the FO doesn't want to hear can't see him being a fit for that reason but hope I'm wrong
Talking about eating money and sending Pollock on his way, Kenley should be a candidate for this as well. Double barreled cannon, shoot'em both somewhere across the nation. Open up the vault and fix this mess
I just can't believe that we lost a series where KJ literally didn't play a role. For all the rightful concerns we had about KJ spoiling a good team, our offense and managing killed us. Unreal.
I don’t think they’ll fire Dave. I don’t think they’ll do monumental changes. But idk. Someone told me this morning “lasorda lost a lot in the playoffs and World Series before he got his victory!” But fuck, we can’t do this for over a decade. and I think Dave did monumental fuck ups last night and this series, honestly tHe worst series he’s managed in his playoff career. 2016 NLDS he managed like there’s no tomorrow. Players came through for him. 2017 he managed good enough. Things here or there but good enough as far as a manager can go. Kershaw/Kenley/Yu fucked up the World Series for him. Little things could’ve been changed here or there but if those 3 show up, he’s a hero. 2018 he managed the NLCS amazingly and then did the stupidest thing he’s done in pulling hill. Kenley fucked up too though. now this year, he had one good game (game 3) where he pushed all the right buttons. His players fucked up game 2 (Kershaw and Corey), game 4 was pathetic and now game 5. It was super unnecessary to put in Kershaw for Eaton. Let your relievers do this, man. Once Kershaw K’d Eaton though, I could see why he stayed in the game. There was no way after that K that anyone was gonna be fine with Kershaw being pulled. And then he threw two horrendous pitches. Sorry for the long post I’m just processing out loud. I think they’ll keep him, pray he can change, and pray that in 2020, Corey/Cody learn how to prepare for the playoffs and that Kershaw/Kenley are minimized to the point of being fringe players on the roster and not main points. Makes for a boring season
Screw Stras, did you see those 4 innings Sean Doolittle pitched against us in the playoffs? We're going after Doolittle!
The thing for me with Roberts is more so @ a macro level. Because yesterday, I could've sworn Bluemouse pulled the numbers on Kersh as a reliever and they were great. Hell, they were spotless. And I literally told him look..Kersh is literally making up new ways to choke now, so those numbers just make me feel like he's due..we saw the multi- HBP at the beginning of Game 2 - the new addition to his choke repertoire, but Kersh had the great numbers as a reliever in the post nonetheless. The numbers said he'd be fine. 2 pitches. That's what I point to. 2 pitches, brother. Gone and buh bye. Not 2 tough ABs and you gave up a dong in each one. 2 fucking pitches, back to back. That's on Kershaw. That's a choker at his peak. Obviously, one can make the argument for Kolarek being out there or whatever, but again..Kersh had the sparkling numbers as a reliever, and no it wasn't the best usage, but gotdamnit everybody out there is spreading it thin..it's OCT. Man up. 2 fucking pitches. At least make it tough. But he's not tough.
I'm feeling bitter now that we signed Kendrick back in 2016. The bitch turned down our QO, and then we helped him save face with that 2-year deal. Fuck Kendrick.
Already 0-1 there. But fuck relievers, my man. New ones pop up every year and old ones fade. Spend on a horse, fuck the donkeys
I fall for the Kershaw thing every year. I keep thinking this is the year he has a good postseason, but I have these damn glasses on. The manager and FO needs to be better than that. Kershaw is clearly an average pitcher at this point in his career, plus he was getting squared up good in Game 2. Average. We should think of him like Paul Maholm, and no one would be ecstatic about Maholm coming in to pitch some innings in a deciding playoff game. That pitch to Soto was batting practice shit. So bad.
"One horse can die, and then where are you? But with 20 donkeys, a couple can die off and you can still plow the fields." - Stan Kasten (probably)
Time for you to break those damn glasses in your avy. Lol Of course, I never would've trusted Kersh in a relief spot. The gas is gone and he's a magnet for the strike zone. He's not a guy who's been OK with wasting pitches in his career..he's not a guy that's been willing to add more and more tools to his bag in his career..he's not clever on the mound..he's not tough, and he's stubborn. The Game 2 thing was predictable. I don't think anybody expected him to match Stras. But he gave us a new wrinkle with the HBP. Lol That one goes on his record as well. Come right out at the beginning of the game and put us behind, and everybody knows his story and the tone is set. Why I laughed @ every notion that Kersh should've been the Game 1 starter and believe it or not, we had LAD fans that wanted Kersh to start Game 1....yes, we did.
