My father was fighting the Japanese in the Philippines when he was 18. I was trying to scrape up $1.35 for a six pack at that age.

Can't imagine how that experience affects the rest of your life.

    IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME

Finally after more than a century, Bright Path, aka Jim Thorpe, had his medals reinstated that he won at the Olympics.
In a world where the most abhorrent and selflish behaviors is constantly overlooked, a true American who was called the "greatest athlete in the world" by the king of Sweden, gets what has been kept from him ( and his family) is made right. At least to the measure possible it can be when the deserving recipient has been gone for generations.
Personally, one of the things I loved most about Jim was his reply to the Swedish monarch, which was, " Thanks, King".
    You just can't top that...

"It is a good day to die"!

    You got that right.
    First there are giants.
    Then there are dwarves.
    Before the time of elfin.
    When we all become human.

My British grandfather fought in WW I ,too. Went throught the training, fought in the first big battle against the Germans in 1914, and got gassed. Burned most of the lining of his lungs out, was discharged, and spent tne rest of his life trying to put together a stable period where he could work to support his family...died in his early 50's.
A story similar to so many others back then, especially in England.
And now, so much fury by so many in comparison, who think it's all owed to them to have a prosperous life.
Always the loudest discontent from a non combatant.

They're showing lines at food banks all over NY...long lines. It is very sad, indeed. Hard to beliwve.
But there is also something awry when many of them are on cell phones.
It may be me, but I find a disconnect there.
    Idk anymore.

    104° in the UK today.
Fuggedaboudit. An airport had to be closed, Luton, because the tarmac was melting on the runway.
This is on an island, north of most of the continent.
Hope Corey likes it hot...100+° through next Thursday in Dallas.
I imagine 335 M is cooling, if you make a fan out of it
Or hire a eunuch to fan you.

The burro crazies always fool you once, twice, three times a lady.
At your age can you be fooled again?
You lived and loved through the changing of the guards before.
What, you dont think they get time off too?
    A shift break.
    A sabbath rest.

When the new tacky gods grow up too fast the old dragoons get testy and start farting under the surface.
Then only those in the guild of the water buffalo will know the difference between a cool breeze and hot air.
Between bubbles coming up from the bottoms of the fen and the sweet smell of the water buffalo spirit.

These new gods got nothing on the old ones.
    Well except one.
But hes no new kid on the block.
    He just Chippy.
And stil has more ice to pick.

    Yakity yak!

I just wrote my first program in Python!
It's a 9 line program that asks three questions but you have to start somewhere lol
Decided on Saturday, 7/16, I was going to learn how to code with Python

    I am the best
    I am going to win

    You insufferable bastard.
    Your positivity is incorrigible.
    I love it though.
    Keep it going.
Make a christmass tree light up in order next.
    You can do it.
    Build a calculator.
    Dumb stuff like that.
Not a lot of moving parts.
They are good challenges at your level.
But they teach you meta lessons its not worth explaining.

Anyone else find it a little weird. Dodgers did the Koufax statue unveiling, now have this all star weekend, and notice who is absent, maybe more noticeably to me than others. But especially with Koufax's statue that Vin Scully wasn't there. There weren't many people Vin told stories about more on his broadcasts than Sandy Koufax. So I at least thought they would record a video from home, or he'll be active on social media in some way. But absolutely nothing for that, nothing for the all star game. I really hope he is ok, but I have a really bad feeling in my stomach.
