It's always fascinating to see the lists of creatures with the most bite force. I expect a jaguar to be up there .... Hyena is 10th on the list at 1100 psi. Jaguar is 5th at 1500 psi. Alligator is 3rd, salt crocs are 2nd, but Nile crocs are off the hook at 5K psi. https://www.sciencefocus.com/nature/top-10-which-animals-have-the-strongest-bite/ Humans? 162 psi. We are pussies at biting. Except for Mike Tyson.
Been drinking store-brand instant coffee for the past couple of years - got a french press today and it is life changing.
ended up in Disneyland on Sunday gf's daughter is back in town for a week and bought the tickets i am pretty much done w disney and their woke agenda but all i had to do was drive my takeaways was very cool to see 1.5 year old in toon town having the time of her young life it wasn't nearly as packed as i thought it would be and had the good fortune of being there on a dapper day w all sorts of patrons dressed to the nines in period clothes the gay and trans crowd are doing their best to make the place their own and are everywhere begging for attention and flaunting it w classic over the top behavior i can't buy honeycomb candy cause for some reason its gone! w all that cash why can't they update some of the park like the train ride? going through the grand canyon lmao that's the same dated faded shit i saw in the 70s had never sat to watch any parade but the gf was into it and it the 100 year anniversary so wtf we staked out a spot to say i enjoyed it would be an understatement the dancers were incredible, the production was perfect and i was literally in awe of being so close to the earnest performance of the those young people had me looking again at disney stock at a five year low
Met a Tibetan Mastiff today. What a dog...beautiful and a sweetheart with a giant fuzzy head. He was still a pup, and the guy said he was over a 100 lbs. A beautiful lovable monster. Damn, they are impressive. Man, I miss my dog.
Fortunately the little ones don't know what's become of the Magic Kingdom. For them it's still the happiest place on earth and that's OK.
In time, the Mouse will fail. Like AOL & Texaco, they'll get bought out and absorbed. Or American Savings & Loan or PG&E ... theyll overextend themselves and eventually become obsolete, replaced by better systems. DLand isn't above the fray. And yeah ... Kiddos love them but they'll grow up and Disney+ won't have long term appeal. Also... Kids love the park but when mom & dad have to shell out $500 for three people to spend a day locally, or quadruple that if outta town ... it can't survive that draconian cost aspect.
well this clearly killed my buzz i was asked to come along w the family and wasn't allowed to open my wallet for tickets or food although we brought food w us i'm sure it wasn't cheap to get into the park even though we only went into the main park and not ca adventure hard to imagine greed not bringing everything back down to earth but those characters are as iconic as mom and apple pie in a sense its almost like the American story when Bowie said mickey mouse has grown up a cow it hurt for a second because truth always does and yet it is and always was about the children and their wonder imo if that fails then so does humanity and unfortunately...
I may be wrong . I've been plenty of times. It's just that permanence is going extinct in this era. Since Hiroshima & Nagasaki, we've seen the notion of craftsmanship replaced by plastics & trendiness. Consider the Disney Concert Hall - it's effing gorgeous and state of the art. Built in 2003. Next door - Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, built in 59. In a decade, they're going to knock down Dorothy chandler, and then another decade they'll find a way to knock over the Disney Concert Hall too. Ditto the Colosseum & Dodger Stadium, albeit in a few more years than that. Anyway, wtf do I know? I'm a cynic.
RIP Harry Belafonte. Loved the guy when I was in high school...still have 5 or 6 of his vinyl albums. Dude sang Reggae when it was called Calypso. Was a good actor, too. Check out " The World, the Flesh and the Devil" and " Odds Against Tomorrow". Not singing roles, just damn good films. Had a good life and checked out at 96. Listened to 'Try to Remember' and 'Scarlet Ribbons' today...very touching and still the best versions of both songs, imo. I lost some interest as I aged, and as he became an activist and I became a married hippie, but I went through high school with the nickname of Fonte. Island in the sun, Harry.
remember my dad playing those songs and singing along smoking his pipe and rocking his chair w a highball
Believe it or not, I got three calls from friends from back in the day, my age ( even older), telling me how sorry they were about his passing. Funny how life's passings remind people of someone else... Got the same when Nilsson and Brando died.
I consider it my duty ( as should we all) to report on upper tier entertainment... so I shall. Just watched the last episode of Barry, and it's laugh out loud funny. Definitely. Fucking great, man.
Happy Hitler suicide and murder day ! Prosit! I get capping Eva to an extent, but wtf did poor Blondi do ?
ONLY IN NEW JERSEY.... 500 lbs. of PASTA has been discovered dumped in the woods in an area of NJ. Seriously. 500 pounds. Fuggedaboudit.
Just found out our oldest Dodger fan that i know of has left to be w her savior I'm not in country atm but the last few months were pretty brutal and i am relieved to know she is at peace she knew something of many of you and i read your posts when we'd watch the games together always up for a vigorous and heartfelt 7th inning stretch until the wind was removed completely from her sails remember going to games and taking her elbow when Garvey would do something "that's Steve Garvey!" if they dfa bickford that will make her happy as she moves on going to miss her so much and of course i feel selfish having her as long as i did and my thoughts go out to TB who only had his mom a short time as bad as i feel i am relieved to know she is no longer struggling Go Dodgers! and hug someone you love
