Of course opportunities increase to score, @Bluezoo ... but who the eff do you think you are? Presenting intelligent baseball strategies that might work? Hoping to increase Dodger victories? Preferring to win a division over being a limp dick wild card team?

Don't question Roberts. He's the Zen Master. He's got WS rings ... because one stolen base. And Logan White's rookie scouting. And Friedman's FA wizardry. And player achievement. And billions of dollars of Guggenheim money.

He's the boss. You got that, pal?

    Sincerely,

Farhan Mark Zaidi Walter Kasten Ng, Jr.

It could work just fine. Mookie is a more selective hitter. Has drawn 60 walks to Trea's 33 this year. Trea has too much swing in his game to hit leadoff, especially when there's a better option (not that Trea isn't a good one). Seen way too many times when Trea takes first pitch hacks after the pitcher makes out. Not what an ideal leadoff hitter does.

two years ago our leadoff options were taylor, kiké, joc and verdugo
since then we've added three former cy young winners, a former mvp, and the aforementioned trea
oh yeah, and a ws title (despite roberts)
imagine if someone would have suggested all of this back then

Yeah, sure it could. But selective schlemective, I say. Betts at this point is a huge disappontment to me, and Trea has more hits than anyone else in the NL. To me, that counts more. And Betts second isn't exactly burying him.
But as you say, it could work. But anything could work if everyone does their job, right.?
How much time do we have to let it all play out anyway? out
    Guess we'll see...

Well, as far as the first swing hacks...I thought that became part of the bb past. Nobody gives a shit anymore about that kind of stuff, sadly. Like being able to bunt...
If it mattered anymore ( I believe it does, too), managers/ coaches would enforce it.

    here's a couple ideas
how about taylor in left instead of lux who (with the exception of yesterday) had never played there before
and why not someone like beaty in the outfield, who actually has a chance of barreling up something?

    Betts RF
    Muncy 1B
    T Turner 2B
    Seager SS
    J Turner 3B
    Smith C
    Bellinger CF
    Lux LF
    Buehler P

And now Paddack will turn into Tom Seaver, of course...or maybe it's the offensive jugger naught.

Fantastic... Treinen about to blow a three run lead all by himself.

    What a glorious day!

Kenley warming up for the ninth. It would be his third game in a row. I don’t like it at all. If he blows it, it’s on doc

He's thrown 24 pitches in those three games. He's fine.

The two sketchy singles don't hurt if he doesn't hit the leadoff hitter.

No worries. Mariachi Joe bailed him out doing his best Treinen impersonation.

If you're only going to get four hits might as well make them count.

Four hits might be hard to come by today against Snell.

Yep. Meanwhile, the steroidal overachievers from Gomorrah North continue to pretend they are baseball's best. Here's my prayer... Those hot shit Frisco bastards stroll into October, face off against Milwaukee, and get their asses raped in three by a better Brewers team.

I'd love to see that happen.

Meanwhile, Snell is imposing. But as much as the wildcard makes me want to puke, and Snell today or in the postseason (if the Padres face the Dodgers in a wildcard playoff) makes me nervous... that's not my worry. With Scherzer or Buehler or Urias, I'm not too worried about the Dodgers in a one-game playoff. I just don't know if they can beat the Brewers in a subsequent match-up. Atlanta? Not a threat ...

I think Milwaukee beats the Giants in a play-off, but would LA play Frisco if they are wild cards or what? That's what I can never figure out with this crazy MLB system.
