Dodgers Interested In Ryan Dempster By Ben Nicholson-Smith [June 12 at 11:24am CST] The Dodgers are "definitely interested" in Ryan Dempster, Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports (on Twitter). The Cubs are expected to consider trade offers for Dempster, a free agent after the season. As Knobler points out, the Dodgers were interested in Dempster two years ago, but the right-hander preferred to stay in Chicago. Dempster has full no-trade protection as a player with ten and five rights, yet he understands that the Cubs may look to move him for controllable players. The Cubs are open to retaining Dempster long-term and have discussed the possibility with the 35-year-old himself. Dempster has started 11 games this year and owns a 2.31 ERA with 7.7 K/9 and 2.4 BB/9 in 74 innings. He'll earn $14MM this season before hitting free agency. If a trade is completed, the acquiring team won't be able to obtain draft pick compensation should Dempster sign elsewhere for the 2013 campaign.

If Dempster is acquired to upgrade over Harang, than it's cool. But if it's done to be an upgrade over any of the other 4 rotation spots, than it makes no sense.
Ryan Dempster is a lot better outside of Wrigley this year his splits are nice. last year was just an unlucky year. his ERA was bloated, but his FIP and xFIP were pretty much the same as 2008, 2009, and 2010 i just want to know why? i know lilly is hurt, but Eovaldi has filled in admirably. are they planning on trading Bills for a bat? i just worry what Ned will give up for a rental. why is he obsessed with old pitchers?
Trade Bills for a bat. Get Dempster to temporarily fill the rotation spot. Sign Cole Hamels after the season. That's so dave.
I mean, even if it is just an upgrade over Harang, what do we do with his 2 year 12 million dollar contract? Oh wait, we fucking make it rain now. Money ain't a thing
That's fine with me. But seriously, does that mean he would move to the bullpen? Or are we trading Bills? I DON'T GET IT!
I don't get it as well, it might mean Lilly is more hurt than we think and Ned would rather have Eovaldi down in Triple A in case someone else goes down (since after Eovaldi, the next option as a starter is Stephen Fife and John Ely who are garbage). That's the only thing I can think of to be honest, but who knows
