We are set up now that every year we can have a shot to be a contender with our prospects coming up.
Then if we are more than just another contender we are in a position to sign a big money FA to get us over the hump.
Rather than the old model of signing big money and then crossing fingers that they play well, dont get injured, or dont mess up the team chemistry.

Thats why im all for the A's as a trade partner.
They dont turn their nose at mid level prospects because they have a good development process and take players with a flaw or two and use them to their strengths.
Joc, Trayce, and guys like that would be starters everyday over there.
Willie Calhoun would probably already have been turned into an everyday LF so he can advance faster and be close to promotion for his power alone.

Well the FO can make some moves can't they to plug at least one of the holes we got. Nunez is already paying dividends for the Gnats. It wasn't fancy, any maybe the overpaid, but not by much.
We definitely need some help to get over the finish line.

What exactly is it ruining? Being elite?
What have we done beyond getting bitch smacked in the post season... forever...
What transition are we in...from perrenial losers to precisely what? A team who might win?
Every team on MLB is theoretically that every season, some with better chance than others...seriously, ruin what?

Gotta agree with Codge. Our window with this current group may be closing, but it's not like we'll be like the Phillies and stink it up for years to come. Seager/Kershaw/Bellinger/Ryu/JDL and others are the future, and I have no doubt we'll be in the mix for the big FAs once 2018 rolls over. We're not done once Gonzalez and the rest our out of their contracts.

Plus, baseball is weird. I can see us do nothing and make the World Series, or do nothing and not. It's a strange fucking game that doesn't make sense.

    Giants Pursuing Rays’ Matt Moore
By Jeff Todd | July 31, 2016 at 10:07pm CDT

The Giants are pursuing a deal for Rays lefty Matt Moore, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (Twitter link). It remains uncertain, he notes, whether San Francisco has the right prospect pieces to work out a deal for the controllable southpaw.

It’s long been unclear just where the Giants’ focus is with the trade deadline nearing. We’ve seen reports connecting the club to starters, relievers, outfielders, and infielders — with the last spot seemingly already covered by the recent acquisition of Eduardo Nunez.

Though the focus has been said to have shifted to the pen, with an eye also on picking up a slugging outfield piece, San Francisco has continued to look into a broad and fluid market for rotation pieces. Moore holds an interesting place in that picture, as he is one of many controllable arms that could be available, but need not be traded by their current teams.

Tampa Bay has been targeted by teams interested in starters because the team is out of the race and possesses a variety of pitchers with relatively lengthy and affordable control rights. While other organizations may be hesitant to deal their better arms, the Rays could do so without compromising their depth.

Still, the price tag won’t be low, and the Giants arguably lack the kind of premium prospect assets that would motivate the Rays. Indeed, the club is requesting a player that is currently on San Francisco’s active roster, per Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area (via Twitter).

I don't want Matt Moore and am fine with the Giants getting him cause he isn't very good or reliable IMO

I know I am in the minority but I think we need to shell out the prospects for Sale and hopfully pair him with Kerhaw. Kershaw's window is closing, we need to win now and not wait for Urias/Deleon.

Moore to the Gnats rumor feels like a dummy tack to me....

Also pretty fucking sad how so many people want to wait 40 years to see a WS win. While the PROVEN difference makers go elsewhere to make differences, again, any/all one of these wunderkind could be Billy Ashley 2.0 and not Seager. Injury risk you say? The FUCKTARDS have a hard on for it so there goes that argument.

    for the bruce lovers...
    • 11:36pm: With several notable names already gone from the relief market, the Giants are “making [a] late and strong push” to land outfielder Jay Bruce from the Reds, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle (via Twitter). San Francisco has been variously rumored to be in and out on Bruce in recent days, but it seems that the club is a serious contender for his services at this late stage.

The dodgers have better minor league talent to land bruce, so if they don't get him it is because they chose not to get him

This could be said of any player that both teams want, unless SF is willing to throw in a young big leaguer like Panik or Duffy.

If Kershaws window is closing then why should we care about what team is made for Kershaw?
If his window is closing due to health problems then we should be looking ahead into the future.
But then his window is not closing. He is 28 and the best pitcher in baseball.
    His back hurts.
Yup, hes a human and sometimes shits gonna hurt.
Maybe this time when we make it to the playoffs he wont be so overworked like he has the past few times?
Maybe he will be a lot sharper with the month or so off in the middle of the season?
