Yeah, exactly. People still talking about the pitching. Aint gonna mean shit if we can't score runs and i don't see how all of a sudden we are gonna do so. Grenk, Kersh and ryu are basically gonna have to throw 1-2 hitters for us to win. Im all for the positive and cheering along, but my head says we lose tomorrow. "man we're starting off with Grenk and Kersh, we are at least gonna take one to start this series. No way we lose both" Have you realized, pitching isn't the issue in this series? We throw gems and lose because we can't score.
The thing that irritated me about Punto, was he said in his post game interview that he was trying to steal third base. Why the hell...down 2 runs would you be trying to do that? Not to mention with Yadier Molina? Just a complete dip shit thought process to try to swipe third base there. imo. Especially with 4-5-6 coming up, right?
Of course, I've watched. Our pitchers will keep it close so if and when our anemic offense decides to score a couple runs we will be in the game. The better our pitchers are the fewer runs our pathetic offense has to score, if they can.
Yeah, I didn't understand that either. He's already in scoring position and CC could've drove him in with a base hit. Mistakes like that are one of the many reasons why we're down 3-1 in this series. Bottomline though, it doesn't matter who the hell is pitching if this offense is going to continue this 3 runs or less performances. People on here and DTalk were going crazy about Greinke not starting tonight, but you know what? We only scored 2 runs and this game probably would've ended up similar to game 1. Offense has completely shit the bed.
Well like you said earlier in this GT, something like "chip away". If he does swipe 3B because the defense was way deep on the left side, a sac fly, a wild pitch, or even a ground out might get a run in and we are only down by 1. Unfortunately, he was picked off, which stealing 3rd or not he cannot allow that to happen. It was bonehead to get picked off, but not to steal third IMO.
Yes, but swiping third base under any circumstance I would imagine is a low percentage play. The risk was far too high in that situation and he got burned right away.
Don't expect Hanley out there for Game 5 and if he is we might just be better off with Punto in place of him. Anybody know how I can keep up with the game? I'll just have my cell phone with me on campus.
starting nolasco this was a way more important game than than game 4 of the lds and like i've said all along... if he wasn't good enough to go then, then he certainly wasn't good enough to go today and i could understand it if nolasco had good numbers against the cards... but jay/freese/holliday/beltran were hitting a collective .418 against him coming into the game with 3HR and 13RBI in 98AB's so explain to me... how did that management (you guys seem so willing not to blame) not see/realize that? hell, even matheny -- seeing that delscalso was hitting over .300 against ricky -- made a change and out him in so is it really any surprise that the four aforementioned cardinals went 3-for-9 with a HR and 2RBI against nolasco? yeah, good call management
No I didn't mean this game. I had previously made a post about his performance, pitching -wise last night, during a comment about his gutless, faggot AB with the bases loaded... reading is fundamental. Who goes out there with bases loaded and watches every pitch sail by without even trying? By get-go, I meant he should never have gotten a start at all. I never said the guy couldn't throw a scoreless inning did I? Yeah, absolutely, from the get go...he didn't deserve or earn a start based on quite a few horrible, amateurish turns before this one. Did he give up 3 runs in early innings and how long did he last? As usual now. He didn't just hit the wall, the fucking thing fell on him. Can't get us into the 5th even. Humpty Dumpty, that's what I see.. You can like the guy all you want, ; he shouldn't have been on the hill in a basic gotta- have game, IMO. He's not the one. A poor choice by Donnie. He's not the guy that's going to give up two runs or so...he has turned into a loser. Second time around, most teams scramble his eggs now. Y'know, like last night.
Yeah, you guys I'm convinced now, we should just use a 3 man rotation throughout the post season. It's the 1950's again.
I'm excited. I'm excited to see our 3 aces take 3 in a row. I'm excited to see us finally hit a HR. I'm excited to see what dumb thing Wainwright will say after he loses game 7. I'm excited to see who our opponent is in the WS. I'm excited to see how we look back at this epic series 10 years from now. I'm excited.
It let the air out of every living room too. That was just one more rally exploding before our eyes into nothingness. Seems to happen a lot in this series.
