I can't wait until they finger him....they'll certainly need him if Clayton decides to fly the coop. This may actually raise CK's final salary (with LAD , anyway) to a most absurd level after the bidding war is over. Can 3/4 of a billion be far away? Waitin' Clayton just baitin' by hatin'....
So IF this happens I could see a scenario where we trade Dre or another outfielder to off set the potential salary of Tanaka-san.
I've been thinking the same thing, they get Tanaka and I can see them making a couple of deals during ST. One of Ethier/Kemp/Crawford, then Beckett and eventually Bills are probably moved. Lee and Stripling stick around so one or the other can slide into the 5 spot next year and save the club 10-12 Mil or are a more financially reasonable replacement if someone goes down this year.
the power play...when you have THE most money...you can tell others to piss off, not to waste their time, and mostly don't get yourself embarrassed out here. that means YOU, Yankees...don't get into a bidding war and get trucked...because you will. it's a guarantee. " leave us to our devices and we'll let you keep your self esteem "
Bob Nightengale ✔ @BNightengale Follow The #Dodgers have let it be known they plan to go all-out in their efforts to sign Tanaka, saying they and certainly won't be out-bid. 10:46 AM - 10 Jan 2014 Not that he knows squat but I like reading this on CBS.com
if the trade makes the team better, maybe. but i don't see a cash dump just for the sake of it. they control more than 180 billion dollars as a group and they just signed a major TV that's reportedly netting them anywhere from 280-320M a year for 20+ years. they literally can afford to do whatever they want...it's gonna take time for Dodger fans to get used to this...i'd say write those figures down and carry them with you to remind yourself. lol
now there are rumors that this is not the case... 3:07pm: John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle hears that Tanaka's initial preferred cities are Los Angeles, New York and Boston (Twitter link). Meanwhile, Nightengale softens his stance in a pair of new tweets, noting that the Dodgers confirmed their interest but don't want to spend "wildly" or do anything crazy with their bid in order to land Tanaka.
Korean night Japan night Cuban night Mexican night Dominican night This all could help TW sell broadcasting rights beyond LA. We were the biggest road team draw last year.
So much for kicking tires huh? They just pushed over the damn car and told anyone who wants to go to a bidding war can get on the other side of said car. It was only a matter of time.
