Pretty disastrous off season so far. Starting staff-worse Bullpen-no better Infield-worse Outfield-at best no better. Probably worse as I don't expect ethier to perform to 2015 level again. Joc to not have the start he had last year
the team is definitely worse than last year and anyone who argues otherwise is delusional the supporters will tell you there's still time left, which there is but i don't expect much tbh
IF is improved with having Seager for a full season over Jimmy Rollins at SS. That is a HUGE improvement. Kike, Utley, and Peraza should give us good production from 2B. Kendrick is solid but not that hard to replace in terms of numbers. If Kike keeps up what he was doing last season then 2B is secure. 3B with Turner is solid. No longer do we have to rely on guys like Uribe, Callaspo or Guerrero. I see good almost guaranteed production out of Turner. Adrian is steady like Kendrick, not spectacular but good production. Grandal, Ellis, and even Austin Barnes should provide above average production from the C position. I have no doubt that Puig will show some life again and im less sure of Joc panning out as big time as we initially thought. He should still be a good power hitter with defense at CF and that is hard to come by. If Ethier struggles in LF there are a lot of young guys on the roster and in the minors who could take their shot. Im looking at Scott Schebler. Pitching, last year we didnt have Ryu at all, we will eventually be getting him back and paired with Iwakuma that is a nice upgrade to the middle of the rotation. Its not Greinke but if we get one other real good pitcher or one of our rookies comes in guns blazing then our starters are better now than before. We still need bullpen help thats for sure. But we have minor league projected superstar starters who will probably give us some stints in the relief corps to shore it up.
You guys are too funny. Come off the ledge! Enjoy the holidays, lament the end of the world as we know it in April not December.
if there were a string of young stars ready to break in right now i think i would feel better its going to be hard to imagine the team having success going forward w a highly questionable rotation in health terms an outfield that features a kid that needs to relearn his swing, aging vets and a mercurial outsider seager is a certain bright spot but age is certain to catch up w adrián as well the loss of zack is a gaping hole thats either going to provide an opportunity or diminish us by volumes and wear out our already poor bully not to mention kenley is most certainly pissed good luck mr roberts and its just hard to imagine it going worse i want to be optimistic but im envisioning a subpar season and a lot of excuses shame but it looks like we are back to another 4 year plan
well said devil the offseason isn't over, but i'm not expecting much else being done tbh people say cueto, i'm saying he goes elsewhere if the season started today, i'd say you're looking at a 3rd place team (behind the giants and d'bags)
Meh Pitching staff definitely worse But all it takes is Grandal to be healthy, Puig to be healthy and produce like 2013, and Joc to fix his swing for this offense to be miles better than last year. Plus the difference between Seager and Rollins is rather big
"If" seems like a big keyword this offseason. "If" Grandal returns to form. "If" Joc doesn't look lost at the plate...
grandal getting healthy ok puig and joc are HUGE question marks one guy seems to have lost his team mates faith and shows little sign of carrying the other had the swing he used to get to the bigs exposed by every pitcher and needs to relearn it sounds like a larger issue then just taking out the trash
^Whole new coaching staff remember. The great players rarely make good coaches so who knows if Turner Ward who wasn't Big Mac can turn these guys around by the same token the D-Bags may miss him more than they will admit. A different perspective wouldn't hurt.
