When you have to scratch out each win all year long, and succeed, I think that hardens your mindset in a good way for the playoffs.

There's still a long way to go, but this year's team just has a different and better feel from previous playoff teams.

They can still be frustrating as hell, but they more often than not, get the job done.

This is a very good point and Irish mentioned it earlier too. As much as I love my Cubbies they have not been in a stressful position all year. This concerns me. I'd like to think they'd be fine dealing with it but I just don't know. You guys do know. How they came together when Kershaw was out shows what a great team they are. You would think I'd be happy and confident with Jake taking the mound tomorrow but I'm nervous as hell. I think it is a must win game for the Cubs. If they lose tomorrow the series might not come back to Chicago.

I can't speak for the Cubs, but I'm pretty sure games 4 and 5 vs the Nats were bigger games for LA than tomorrow's game :poke:

    But it's still big.

Hill has to have a good start, especially in DS. His other starts with the Nats were away. So there is a chance he will be his good self tomorrow.

But, the offense has to wake up. Seager, Turner, Gonzo, Utley....they need to produce, and the lower half of the order, Toles, Reddick, Ruiz, Grandal, Joc especially, they need to contribute.

Cleveland on the verge of a sweep, don't know what I feel about that fact. 2 obvious schools of thought, 1 is that the winner of the NL doesn't get any rest and 2 that the Indians could have ample time to recover or get rusty. I hope our team can test out either scenario in the WS.

If it means anything, teams who have swept the lcs in recent years also lost in the World Series.

Off the top of my head, the Rockies, Tigers, Mets and Royals all swept their championship series only to fall in the World Series.

Can't wait to see notorious dickbag J Martin sent packing from the playoffs. He's stunk the joint out along the way too.

I'm still in disbelief that the damned Indians have swept every game in the playoffs.

We'll drag the Cubbies out to 7 games and the Injuns will have been home 10 days getting fat and sassy filling up on junk food and bad BBQ (is Cleveland actually good for anything but setting lakes on fire?)

Cody Allen on Trevor Bauer: "I'm sure if they had given him the option of chopping
his finger off or coming out of the game, he would have chopped his finger off."

yeah, and i'm sure he would have pitched well with one less digit

Cy Young Mike Marshall was also gigantic pain in the ass as a human. A total condescending jerk.

Sorry Gebbeth, I don't really understand this. Joc is 2nd on our team in BA, OBP, and OPS in the posteason. Except for Turner, he has been our most consistent offensive player this postseason.

Toles is doing a solid job in his limited appearances as well.

Utley at the top of the order on the other hand...

I've said this before on here, but my gf knows Bauer and from everything I've heard, he's a nut job. It is well documented that his teammates can't stand him(hence the multiple trades), but apparently the guy is a first rate sociopath. You get those characters in baseball, but honestly, what the fuck was he even thinking?!?
