That is a valid point, but I was more just pushing out a number that I figured to be on the low end of what he could potentially do if he stays healthy. I think he could still conceivably put up a .900 OPS, which yeah we need from a guy who would play everyday, and would allow the team to make trades to address different departments. I understand the glamour of the 1st round pick and I am a noted prospect hugger, but the depth that has been built up in the system would not be greatly hurt by us losing the 25th pick. Just say the team does in fact snag Dozier, his cost is minimal against the books, then the team grabs Bautista on a one or even 2 year deal. The team could then concentrate on using their overload of 7 OF'ers to try and get young players or relievers from elsewhere.
Dozier, Seager, Turner, AGon, Bautista, Grandal, Puig/Ethier/Thompson/Toles, Pederson is a solid Lineup. Granted it is not my money, so that may be too rich for ownerships blood, but if they reduce from other spots (Kazmir, McCarthy, Ryu, Puig), then they could potentially add around 10 mil to current payroll. Potentially less depending on how much they move. That right there is a legit contender to go nose to nose with the Cubs.

Just red yesterdays chat on MLBTR......apparently there were a ton of Profar inquiry's. Here is Steve Adams take:

He's young and has lots of upside, but he's not someone I'd give up a significant MLB piece for, especially not since he only has three years of club control remaining.

I'd offer Puig, and then go into ST with Profar/Kiki/Calhoun battling it out for the starting day 2B spot. Then offer Pitt DeLeon /Verdugo/Thompson for Cutch.

Like it has been said, that is probably around where his value is, however the Rangers still view him as an elite prospect. The responses from teams that have inquired about Profar have said that the Rangers are unrealistic with their asking price with him.

    exactly
    those picks are invaluable
especially when you've got guys like byrnes, anthopoulos, maddux, ibanez contributing to the decision making
not saying logan white was overated, but it's not like we're missing him either
    but back to bautista
if he didn't have the qo attached, we wouldn't be having this conversation
someone would have already signed him
wouldn't be surprised if he ended up back in toronto on a one year deal... for considerably less than the $17.2MM he was initially offered lol

The only people that I see that seem to hate the rumored return for Dozier are either totally unreasonable Twins fans and a couple Minny local writers. The Twins bloggers and beat writers seem to think that nabbing De Leon is a huge get and anything on top of that would be gravy. While irrational fans think they should get Bellinger, Verdugo, Alvarez and De Leon. Really think this is going to be one of those deals that just never comes together. They called for highest and best last week, nothing, and now we are passing the midway point of the following week AND NOTHING. You normally don't delay if you have something good. They are obviously not high on the return for him and think they can get the Dodgers to overpay for him, which as we all know, they just won't do. With that said, Jerry Crasnick just tweeted this:
The Twins haven't set a drop dead "yes or no" date on whether they'll trade second baseman Brian Dozier. But there's agreement within the organization that they have to make a call one way or the other soon. The front office doesn't think it's fair to Dozier -- or beneficial to the team in general -- to let the current state of uncertainty drag on much longer.
This new GM is fucking annoying and it is getting obvious that he is likely over his head.

    totally agree
when a deal is talked about this long it seldom happens
or happens a good while later
i don't think it will happen, nor should it if it involves bellinger or alvarez in addition de leon
kinda on the fence with verdugo tbh
i like the kid, but if he (and de leon) gets us dozier... i might be willing to pull the trigger
whatever the nerds decide they should set an expiration date themselves
offer de leon + who/whatever and give them a week
if no response take the offer on the table and move on

I get the feeling that if once a Dozier deal were to happen, there would be a whole bunch of other dominoes to fall like in years past. I just don't think going into the season with 7 big league OF'ers(SVS, Ethier, Thompson, Joc, Puig, Toles and Ruf) on the roster is realistic and though making it through a season unhurt is impossible for us, the Dodgers also still have Kershaw, Hill, Maeda, Wood, Kazmir, McCarthy and Ryu all likely healthy going into spring training, plus Urias, De Leon(maybe), Stewart(maybe) and Stripling all deserving of rotation spots. That's a lot of depth, but it is also something that likely needs to be reorganized in some sort of fashion. This team is oddly constructed right now and the general silence around the club is somewhat confusing unless they are waiting on the Dozier shoe to drop before moving around those pieces.

Is anyone else put off by the Twins fabricating that the Cardinals had an interest in Dozier to gain leverage? Seems so bush league to me. Glad our FO isn't caving on this. While I'd love to have Dozier on the team, if the Twins don't want the current offer, it's their loss.

Also, re. the current rumblings that other teams (Giants and Cards?) believe the Dodgers are being "stingy" with their prospects... SCREW THEM. If they had prospects like ours, they'd be stupid to not be stingy as well.

and that would be my only criticism of the front office
obviously they want dozier, but you have to have a back up plan in case it doesn't work out
what are the 2b options if it doesn't... kiké, taylor, micah???

I think if they had done something like this one time, it is warranted, as a lot of GM's try to deal that way and they have every right to try to get the most value out of their guy. The real put off is their fucking persistence to continue to try to make people believe that the Dodgers need to worry that there is another dog in this fight. Be excited that you are getting back one of the top pitching prospects in the game who has shown high quality swing and miss stuff at the MLB level, plus likely other decent pieces from one of the top development orgs in the game.

Also, yes I love that we are stingy with our prospects. I don't think they have overvalued yet, but at least they don't appear to undervalue either.

And here we go, the guy that broke the Kenley and Turner deals:
    Chris Camello
Sources: #Dodgers have set this weekend as a deadline for Dozier deal, whether a deal happens or not. More to come as it happens #LADodgers

This means that there is a plan B and the Dodgers are ready to move on it.
