Stramgely, I just read an article on him, an accomplished actor...he is British American, born in England.
Also, surprisingly, a flamer who carries a purse...but with good hair.

 

A couple things I was thinking about last night in regards to Solarte was that he may really not be available. Sure the team has shown interest, however that could be a black eye for the Padres in the fans view if they were to trade him this offseason. As some of you may recall, his wife passed away late in September. He came back to a very supportive community, so I wonder if the team feels that from a marketing standpoint, if moving him would be a bad idea. Not to mention, they know they are not competing this year, but shit their farm is good. So it may be worth sitting on Solarte and see if he has a big year, then they can move him next offseason for a better package than they would have gotten this year.

 

New rumor that the Braves are now making a huge offer for Dozier.

Fuck the Twins. I really hope the Dodgers pull the plug on this deal ASAP. The Twins should just make their imaginary deals if the offers are so good.

 

I remember some weird, negative reports on Alvarez..treating him like he was JDL's age and not 4-5yrs younger with a cannon making noise at multiple levels, so I'm sure there's also some skepticism out there on his behalf regarding his future role.
Either way, I could see the Twins holding the deal up over smaller pieces from the best, most resourceful farm in the business.
Smaller pieces on LAD's farm..like Toles was considered to be..like a Trayce Thompson - who was ranked around 20th in his brief stay on LAD's farm/spec list before making the team - avoiding OKC - and raking, etc.
Twins just hired one of LAD's advisors off the farm and they're probably working with him to make certain they get the right guys, so if its a 1 horse race where the teams are committed I could see them haggling over an Imani Abdullah/high upside/developmental type.
Even if it's a Stripling level guy..how valuable did Stripling prove to be for us?
Why wouldn't the Twins also want that?
And why wouldn't LAD fight to keep those types?
LAD's farm is all the way up and the depth is there, a lot of truly talented kids to choose from outside of the obvious.
They obviously didn't raise Grant Dayton on the farm, but he was in LAD's system nonetheless..getting a smaller piece that could be similar to him would be a win as well.
So while I get that JDL is a win, if LAD was in listening mode and not going anywhere, why not give it a run for more?

And who knows, I guess..maybe they want a Verdugo level guy along with JDL?
Maybe they don't want smaller pieces at all.
Montas/Cotton/Holmes all gone..JDL possibly next..its damn hard to argue that LAD doesn't feel great about the arms coming up behind those 4..Twins probably want some of that action too.

 

And LAD could be using the Twins as leverage to get a better deal for a Forsythe..anything is possible I suppose.

Sounds like it may be for Brido going to another team, not the LAD...or nowhere at all.
And because the Twins procrastinated with us, it's all OK now if someone else gets him, even though we wanted/ needed him too, big time??
Although the great life lesson would be taught, as punishment to the Twins, the key player/ great fit at 2b for us going somewhere else would be like cutting our nose off to spite our...uh...lineup, wouldn't it? I think, if he does go somewhere else...kinda like the booby prize. Or no prize at all, actually.
Well, we did get the 3 FAs we wanted.
All it takes is money, evidently. Not that easy when it's not that cut and dried, I guess.

This off season is a FAIL if we don't get better in order to answer the teams who were already ahead of us, and did. Yeah, it's great to keep our guys, and not get any worse, but in the bigger scheme of things we are worse off than them.

Actually, no FO supporter will give you any credit for hitting the nail directly on the head, as you obviously already know.
But your examples, factual and astute, the scientific method of proving things, are perfect.
Personally, I'm giving them credit for not letting Kenley or JT get away ( jumped all over when I wrote so, and signing Hill after letting Cotton and Montas go for him ( also told "so what?", basically), but trades seem to be a much more difficult task to pull off for them.
Whereas, other teams complete their needed acquisitions, in what seems anyway, comparitively, like blinding speed.
Although the timing was against us with the FA players, which we got all back, one could argue what we have done is maintained our status quo of last year, and the same gaping holes, no matter how erect individuals get over the minor league uberkind "can't miss"superstars, are still the same ones that have haunted the team for a good chunk of time. Yup, the same. But at least we are trying.
And I think to stay the same ( basically...not sure about Hill really), as NLW champs again, is fine.
The problem is, the help we got from SFs collapse and what appears to be COs usual mediocrity, definitely won't.
