A.J. Ellis scored a 100 on the Wonderlic even though the highest possible score anybody can get is a 50.
A.J. Ellis finished April with a very solid .291 average. A higher batting average than Andre Ethier has.
That's right. Forgot about that. I guess Plan B is Streakthier T-shirts and bumper stickers. That will have to do.
Look at the ranking of MLB catchers and AJ is better than most of them. http://mlb.com/stats/sortable.jsp?c...evel=child&click_text=Sortable+Player+hitting Comparing him to Martin at this point isn't fair to AJ as he is in a league much above Russ and I am a Russ fan.
last night I heard Bowa praising AJ on MLB Network. He said that AJ was really under estimated but that he calls a great game, has great defensive skills and a good plate approach...
A.J. Ellis has the 2nd highest BA on the team. He's the only regular to have more than 1 HR. He also has double digit RBI (10) and only Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier can claim that. A.J. Ellis needs to be moved up in the order and bat 5th to give Ethier protection. A.J. Ellis is a rock star and rock stars don't bat 8th. Players like James Loney and Juan Uribe should be the ones batting 8th.
Players like Loney and Uribe should be watching the game from the bench... That been said, I dont see Ellis moving higher than 7th. He works the count well which is good as the 8th hitter as pitcher dont care to walk him having the pitcher next. Moving him up means that he will get challenged more, which might not be the best option. He sure has more HRs than most, but that talks more about the others failure than about his success...
Working the count well is also great for the #2 hitter. Or the #1 hitter. Or... just about any hitter in the lineup. If pitchers challenge him he will just put more balls in the seats. AJ4Life.
Or Geena Martin (by far) or Santana. Hope he can maintain it. Those late inning hits are really helping us win. Me likey. Last night, a little sleepy behind the dish though. Coulda/shoulda had 2 PBs...how was the second one a WP?
