Oh yeah I know that. I just hate, as a fan of Braun and as a fan of baseball, all the political correctness and what have you that has made itself into the game. If a guy sucks, tell him he sucks. If he failed a test then he failed a fucking test. What happened to taking one on the chin like a man? MLB , and the world, has been pussified.
Maybe he "felt the pressure of living up to such a monster contract and felt like he had to do this to make the fans happy" and blah blah blah. Anyone else think he goes the ARod route?
kemp wont get the MVP, but there will always been a gigantic asterisk with 2011 everyone believes Kemp was better anyways, and Braun only won because he made the playoffs which is BS, but this is some kind of justice for me
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6403833 From April of this year. You may have nailed it. The entire article in hindsight is very interesting. I am just realizing how much his stats jumped from 2010 to 2011
This is horrible news for baseball, Braun is a fucking awesome player With that said, I truly think they should take away his MVP. There are a million reasons to not do this, but it sends a huge message. I honestly don't care if they dont give it to Kemp, make it a year with no MVP idont care. But this is such shit man, fucking baseball was just starting to look great without a lockout or scandals like College Football, NFL, and NBA and now everyone is reminded that we get cauught with juice
Yeah you know I never really noticed huge jumps in his stats either. I guess I took it for granted because he has been such a solid, consistent player. Its obvious, unless he had a great masking agent, that he wasnt doing this in the minors. I wonder how long he has been doing PEDs.
While I dont want to agree for a plethora of reasons (asterisks, "unfair" precedence, etc) I cant. Baseball boasts that they have the toughest steroid policy and testing, that they want to do everything to clean up baseball that they can, etc... but they let this go on? However it would be so minimal I dont think it would send a message. He's still going to get the hundreds of millions of dollars guaranteed , even if he walks away today, until the end of the 2020 season (and maybe longer if they deferred money which I dont know). You wanna send a message? Void the contract...
Good points, in the scheme of things money hurts more than awards With that said, I really feel bad for Brewers fans. Really, really feel bad for them
If I'm not mistaken he will lose pay for the 50-games he's suspended. A 3rd offense results in being banned from the league, which should result in a voided contract.
Sure he does lose the pay for the 50 games, which is a drop in the bucket for him. I dont think ANYONE would be dumb enough to get a 3rd offense. Not in a world of guaranteed contracts where they can pull a Manny Ramirez and just quit and still collect.
I am recalling an article after he signed his latest contract talking about the risk the Brewers were taking. That along with this one is starting to make sense. http://espn.go.com/dallas/story/_/i...ers-tests-positive-performance-enhancing-drug The other article was in April and questioned the wisdom of his new contract considering his output the previous two seasons and the fact he was under contract for another couple of years. They wanted to make him a Brewer for life and the face of the franchise and felt he would rise to the moment. I wonder how Prince feels now and was this his effort to exceed Prince?
He's hitting his prime now is probably how he is going to defend his numbers, which in a perfect world makes sense.
found the other article http://bleacherreport.com/articles/674430-milwaukee-brewers-was-the-ryan-braun-extension-a-mistake Lots more in the April article about why not on the contract and this news makes the article in hindsight more spot on.
@jenladaJen LadaFrom OTL: Source says Braun requested 2nd test. 2nd test not positive. Those close to RB believe difference will show 1st test was invalid.
