Wow, I just looked it up, and it looks like Braun will lose about $2 million this season because his big paychecks don't kick in for a while. So point taken.

I was just saying there is a built in salary punishment with the suspensions, even if it is minor (relatively). Owners could always get together and insist on steroid clauses in contracts - like the ability to void a contract on a first offense. But I might argue they don't because discouraging well-masked steroid attempts wouldn't be in their best interest.

 

Not to mention , imo, that they are afraid of Donald Fehr and the strongest union in the world, the MLBPA. The players gave in to a lot but they will agree to non guaranteed money and contracts before they agreed to that.

 

I think Braun should have his MVP taken away because he tested positive for bad defense.

 

True, it wouldn't come without a fight.

Ryan Braun has tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug, which showed up in the form of synthetic testosterone in a urine sample. However, Braun is said to have been shocked by the results, and the ESPN report contains the following nugget of interest:

A source close to Braun said that when he was told about the positive test, he immediately requested to be tested again. That second test, the source said, was not positive. Those close to Braun believe that the difference between the two tests will show that the first test was invalid.​

Well that's fascinating. One sample tested positive. A subsequent sample did not test positive. Something must have been wrong with the test on the first sample, right? Exoneration, ho!
Not quite. Maybe, but we don't know how much time passed between tests. They do, but we don't, and that's a critical piece of information. Additionally, the first sample seems to have been tested multiple times.
Braun seems to believe very strongly that he is innocent. Our responsibility, as fans, is to hear him out and give him a chance before we rush to conclusions. One does have to wonder, though. This is a curious day.

Want to clean up BB? take the sample, send it to 2 different labs...if detected in both, then that's it. One time -you're out of baseball. That'll clean it right the fuck up.
And how soon was the surprised Braun's "immediate 2nd test" after the first is of utmost importance.
They'll never take it away if it stands, anyway, because the people in charge are fags....that's why. Did they change the result of that guy Galarraga's perfect game when the ump clearly blew that call in the ninth? And admitted he got it wrong? No...they let the ump Joyce cry about it, and that scrub got screwed out of something he'll never even hope to sniff again, ever.
They've got a big problem on their hands with this one...because if he does get exonnerated, then every guy who is accused of PEDs will want the same treatment; "the tests are not infallible. They made a mistake, like with Braun".
Just like fucking OJ-DNA everywhere, blood all over his car, and he's innocent.

there is actually more to that picture than meets the eye since you have an apparent fascination with it. i have a b/w picture of me at like two with a cig in my mouth and a lighter in my hand sitting on a little port a potty. it supposedly happened on a camping trip and my dad and "uncle" verg staged it. my family swears it was an omen of things to come.

i disagree. i highly value content of character and see very little of it around. i grew up being told my word was all i had and if i gave it i better be able to support it and follow through no excuses.
we shook hands and made deals. looked people in the eye. people actually knew what shame felt like. there is no shame anymore. anything goes. and you can go ahead and say these values are outdated but they were a hell of a lot better than this whole deny it until it becomes truth bullshit.
we may have been lied to but people treated each other a lot better.
