Give him an extra 50 mil or so and keep him from opting out. Guy is my favorite Dodger, and I think he will age well. Losing him out of the squad would be huge. What does everyone else think? Pay and keep, or let him walk?
With 3 years and $77M left, they would need to give him 4 x $30M in addition to what he has to get him near the $200M mark that I am sure Casey Close has in mind.
Best year ive personally ever seen a dodger pitcher have. But the whispers of his sore elbow throughout the years have me worried about his long term durability. No chance an additional 50 mil keeps him. Id offer and additional 3 yrs, 100 mil to his deal.
i mean, he's certainly top 3. bWAR has him #1 by a wide margin, but fWAR has him like the 6th most valuable pitcher behind Kershaw. MVP will go to Bryce most likely.
Greinke needs to spend the rest of his career as a Dodger so yeah I hope they work out a deal. I hope they re-sign him and go after Price but they need to lock him in asap.
Only thing Greinke has done better this year is ERA. everything else 2014 Kershaw was better including K% BB% FIP, XFIP.
.3 diference in era is significant, especially when its under 2. Ks arent surprising becuz kshaw is more of a SO pitcher and dont forget greinkes bat and his glove. Also this year isnt over.
I'd vote Greinke for the Cy. Not as good as Bryce in terms of value though, and definitely not as good as Kershaw last year, which Greinke would tell you himself. And I'd try to sign he or Price, and take whoever agrees first. Think they're both equally awesome.
They won't resign him and it will piss a lot of people off. He should get a higher offer than Scherzer's 7/$215MM
