wondering how much we can reasonably expect from buehler
at best he’s going to be on a short leash
even moreso for may when he returns, who imho they should consider moving to the pen

LOL, i would be fine with any cheap back of the rotation pitcher. Realistically they only need to hold down the fort till mid season when Kershaw and May can step in.

No way you move May to the pen. He has ace stuff so ya stretch him out as a starter and load up the bullie for the short outings

    completely agree on his stuff
just wary of him holding up with that somewhat violent delivery that’s already resulted in tj and ucl surgeries
    idk maybe i’m just paranoid

Yeah I don't think Buehler's leash is going to be short.

He might be a superb weapon, with his multiple innings capabilities... a scary redheaded viking looking guy is very Valhallahish...shut down and close those games out, then drink ale and eat Dodger Dogs.
He should grow a long beard and braid it and change his name to Loki or Ragnar.
They could blow the Viking horn when he comes in...the PR/ entertainment factor is off the charts !

BREAKING: Star closer Josh Hader and the Houston Astros are in agreement on a five-year, $95 million contract, a source tells ESPN. The deal contains no deferrals. It is the largest present-day value contract for a relief pitcher in baseball history. Hader joins an Astros bullpen that already has an elite closer in Ryan Pressly. They’ll be the best 1-2 punch in the game.

Hader and the Astros deserve each other, and I hope their union fails miserably.

I really don't care about who the reliever is, no guy coming out of the bullpen is worth that much. I would even be reluctant to give peak Mariano a contract like that, and there are two main reasons that I've said before.

    1. Relivers are incredibly fickle - dominant one year, mediocre the next. It's all too common for a reliver to lose his grip on a pitch and it becomes less effective, suffer from dead arm or just general overuse on consecutive days, etc.
    2. It's relatively easy to find guys who can be decently effective out of the bullpen, without having to pay a stupid price for them. Also, I don't mean they grow on trees, but there are plenty of young guys in the minors or starters that get converted who show they can be solid relievers. They just need their shot.

It's why I wonder what the fuck so called experts are thinking when they say the Dodgers need a closer. What does Evan Phillips have to do to prove himself?
