Yes, it's nice to know some traditional things are still important.
The team is as stacked as it possibly can be ( probably) to start this season.
But looming like harbinger over everything, every single aspect of the season, is the anti- kudos of the retention of the proven loser, Dave Roberts.
Hard to fathom that each season, as basically annual odds-on favorites to win it all, they don't.
And the reward that follows, inexplicably.
With this much money having being thrown around, you'd think a dynasty is to be expected, much less a freaky plague shortened WS victory as the sum total.
Guess that's why I never got paid the big bucks...just don't get that thinking.

I'd love to see Kershaw hit 20 years.

Could be difficult given the injury history and whether or not he is performing (I don't think he should take a roster spot from someone if he is absolute garbage), but it would be incredible to have somebody hit 20 years with one team (especially the boys in blue) since it's so rare.

I know we've seen it where 1 solid player (maybe 2) doesn't sign until spring, but have we ever seen 4? Snell, Belli, Montgomery and Chapman (not in the same class as these other guys but still solid) all still available.

All four are Boras clients. Coincidence? Me thinks not.

And if it's true that Boras is pushing aside Montgomery inquiries with, "How about Snell?", I'd be pissed if I were Jordan. Sure, maybe a bigger Snell contract will get more for Montgomery, but it must really suck seeing the rest of the league in training camp while you're sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring. https://www.sportsmockery.com/chica...dan-montgomery-and-scott-boras-is-outrageous/

“Baseball has never been a top priority for me. This is a job. I do this to make a living.” — Anthony Rendon

    what a scumbag
must make his teammates (not to mention owner, manager, fans) happy to hear
can’t, but almost feel sorry for the angels
too bad he’s not on the giants or astros…

And he doesn't do it (his job) particularly well, at least not at what they're paying him. Pretty stupid to make comments like this if you ask me. He's killed his marketability. Maybe he figures by the time his seven year contract is up, he'll be ready to sail off into the sunset, but in the meantime, I bet there are no endorsement opportunities. Boras must love him. Of course, Boras got his cut from the $245M, so maybe he doesn't care.

Anyhow, I remember at one time Rendon's name was being floated as a possible acquisition for the Dodgers. Disaster averted.

The only one I feel for is Trout. He deserves better.

At least Rendon is truthful...I mean you have to admire him somewhat for that.
Better than being a performing seal in Aqualand. With the money they are giving people these days and how they invariably come up short en masse ( LAD....front and center!), the honesty is refreshing to me.
I admire the wolf to the core more than the fat cats that get the attention. The wolf does what it must for his pack.
Lions and tigers are more powerful, but you never see wolves perform in a circus...

Naw, Trout signed his extension after having first-hand experience of being there. He knew what he was doing and what staying there meant. He's the big hero fish in a small pond making massive money with no pressure, with an extra month off to spend it every year.

    No empathy there...

I read a comment that the Dodgers and Braves have only two Boras clients, combined. Not sure if that's accurate, but would be cool if it is.

Dodgers have both of them, Brusdar Graterol and James Paxton. they traded Pepiot who is a Boreass client and the wife beater is gone. Braves not having any isn't surprising considering how many they have suckered into team friendly deals.

Speaking of Boras, I still hold Ned in high regard for very publicly backing Boras down and thus making him cave to the deal he wanted for Manny Ramirez back in the day, irrespective of how his year turned out.

...and that was when Boras was at his peak in power over GMs and owners.
