Lost in all this..Arrieta, as usual, flaunted the best pure stuff on that staff.
Yes it's OK to give the opposition some cred..we certainly don't like it when LAD isn't given their due
That ball Contreras hit is still in orbit
    491 feet? Gotdamn.

And again, the good news is that I strongly doubt we see this lineup again, especially with the lefty going tomorrow. Go with the game 1 lineup, pray for Kershaw, and we have a well rested Morrow+Jansen for 9 outs. See y’all tomorrow

18 fucking LOB?! Wow. We bailed them out. Plain and simple.

Yeah I can’t agree with that. He had 5 walks and a majority of the LOB and Ks were courtesy of our trifecta of ethier, granderson and utley. We had our chances and pissed them away.

That's baseball. He didn't give in, put some dangerous guys on base with some walks and got out of jams. I don't know how you can watch a game and not see the movement on his pitches.

Their guy was shit. We let him off the hook, and our hitters went off the game plan that has worked for the previous six games. Fuck that puto.

Turner, Puig, Taylor..they all had chances to put runs on the board against Arrieta. They all saw strikes.
Belli was the only one to punish him. That's that

Ever since the 10 - 30 in the Arizona series we have been HORRIFIC with RISP, just HORRIFIC. I'm worried about what Kershaw we are going to get tomorrow!!! I'll take credit for this loss, 1st game I actually have watched this series, won't happen again.

I’d like to see Kersh loose, having a good time. Like Yu. Yu looks like it’s just another game.

No one said he gave in. Our shit part of the lineup bailed him out swinging at bad pitches. The movement on his ball struck out Bellinger and Taylor and maybe caused a couple of bad contact outs. Other than that 5-8 minus grandal had awful at bats all game

Nah, they all had opportunities to hurt Arrieta, 1-8, they all saw strikes and they all stayed in the yard..except for Belli that one time.
You listed a couple instances with Belli and Taylor, but Turner had his shots and Puig did too..Puig watched one strike right down the dick on 3-1 and was super pissed at himself for not sending it over the fence.
This idea that only one part of the lineup or Doc gets the blame is misdirection bs.
Arrieta did what he had to do on a windy night in Wrigley..that's it.
He kept damage to a minimum, maneuvered and won.

14 or our 18 LOB were from bellinger, ethier, granderson and utley. So I don’t see how you can say it’s on turner, puig and Taylor because they saw strikes. Taylor and turner both had 0 LOB. Bellinger yes hit a solo homerun but also came up twice with Taylor on base who worked walks only to see cody fail to bring him in. One of which he hit into a game ending DP with turner on deck. Arrieta did enough to win, obviously because he got the W but we (Roberts) bailed him out from getting an L. There’s my credit for him I guess

They all saw punishable pitches and only one left the yard. 1-8
Idgaf if they left no one on base..hit more solo shots.
    Every little bit counts

I’ll argue wood pitched better overall but was unlucky. Contreras took advantage of a mistake but Baez hit two balls low and out of the strike zone out of the park. That was the damage. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good I guess but wood gets the loss when he was better overall. We didn’t take advantage. Period

One could argue that Wood was better. Its not like I'm saying Arrieta was dominant or some dumb shit. He just did what he had to do and got the W..kept the damage to a minimum and only let one ball leave the yard on a windy night. But yes, 1-8 in the order, they did not take advantage of the pitches that Arrieta left over the plate. They all had their chances. Nobody excluded.

Haha ok. You’re answer is to hit more home runs. You don’t need homeruns. Base hits with guys in scoring position work just as well as a solo homerun. Call me crazy but I’d rather have a double that scores two than a solo homerun.

Like I said earlier. It hurts, and I would prefer a no fuck around approach. But at least Dave won’t make the same mistake in the World Series (if we make it). Need Kershaw to win tomorrow, get his confidence off these shit hitters, and become a World Series hero. Easy.

I’m still shocked by the usually good @BlueMouse terrible performance this game. @VRP was pretty bad last game, but this was Granderson level poor performance. Hoping he can right-the-ship before the WS. Because right now, VRP is a better poster than him.

You need whatever's there to get. You're trying to exclude one opportunity from another.
I'll call you crazy for splitting hairs over how you score, especially in a tight ball game.
Solo shots would've worked just as well tonight.

I’m not splitting hairs. I’m simply not relying on the homerun ball with every batter. Especially with guys like utley and granderson. Base hits. All we needed tonight. Granderson beggin for a foul tip on a ball he didn’t touch, as well as getting the golden sombrero is evident to me he has no business in the lineup right now. Utley 0-25 or whatever he is given his age isn’t gonna be hitting jacks to propel us to victory. Ethier needed a guy who throws 88 to hit a jack. He looked silly tonight. Cubs have been relying on the homerun ball all series and it’s only helped them once to this point.
