When new fuck ups take their place...we have a few ingenues waiting in the wings, like an understudy breathless with anticipation. Baez will move on, but considering the assembled bp this year, he is in the upper echelon, believe it or not. This is what standing pat leaves us with. I think Alexander, who put the game in position to become out of reach expertly, imo, is front and center. Three Ws to make it bases loaded, no outs, is top notch fucking up. Then there is Font, still unseasoned, but showing great promise. He can be a front line fuck up, no doubt. Others may or may not qualify. The surprise fuck up is of course, Kenley Jansen, who really, in the continuing Best LAD RP Fail tradition, given the stage it was on, is BOFU. All time. And continues right on with it.
^Not even watching but I'm sure Seager has already hit a lazy ground ball and made a mental error today. He usually waits until October to decompose, but I have a feeling he'll be ahead of schedule this season.
Dodgers are contenders. For years they weren't. It all boils down to being a contender. If you are not a contender you aren't even good enough to be called a loser. It's better to love and lose than to have never loved at all.
Thanks in large part to Kershaw himself. He won't be able to look back on his LAD career and blame his team. Not with all the choking he's done in October. Legit question: it's a scenario where LAD can either re-sign an older/declining Kershaw or sign Bryce Harper..what do you do? Not that it'll really be Kershaw VS Harper this offseason, just in this scenario it is, so who you got?
BTW, Chase Blackmon just re-upped with Colorado for 6yrs/100M or so Now the question is will they be able to retain Arenado a couple years from now
Too easy of a question since it’s clear now that Kershaw is in real decline. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wood or Hill outWAR’s him this season.
yes it is. Between the huge HR uptick last season and the velocity this season, both happening as he hits 2000 career IP and breaks 30. It isn’t a coincidence. His location this year has also been horrible, missing arm side like it’s 2009, only without the velocity. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/pitcher-aging-curves-introduction/ Between 29-30 is when it consistently goes haywire.
This is the Wood I always felt was lurking in the shadows last year. I do not believe he will ever get 16 wins again. The offense is just that- offensive.
