    OK...I pulled up WAR on ESPN (because I'm a SABR nut) with 2B @ 225 PA =
    0.6WAR Ranked 16/24 MLB.
    8/12 in the NL.

    Realistically, we would obviously do better with Chase Utley. But is this a reasonable suggestion? Is this a glaring weakness on our team? I certainly do not think so. It's not like he's the worst starting position player on the planet, just our team maybe. I mean we are scoring a lot now with Ellis, it's not like Cruz is out there. I just don't see the need, he will improve so his WAR will probably go up. He's just been slumping badly. If you looked at his WAR in April he was 9th out of 40. He got hurt and hasn't recovered fully.

    We could get probably easily get Ricky Weeks, his WAR was top ten a couple years ago...LOL, he's now -0.7 = 22nd out of 24 in the NL.

    I used MLBTV and watched it. Didn't show Parra's reaction just Hanley looking and clapping until Parra noticed. Hanley is such a douche lol.

    The only reason I see Ellis as a glaring weakness is that he really never does anything with the bat. At least Uribe can make some things happen but Mark really can't do anything.

    I just seen it on TV and Parra looked like a giant faggot but that's because he looks like a giant faggot. But seriously, Parra is a giant faggot and he made a gesture to Hanley like why didn't you run.

    Well I remember him having some very big ABs many times in his time here. He's not been much lately except for that big 3 hit game the other day leading off.
    If you see a guy like him on a team like the Dodgers(mostly former All-stars), he looks bad, on the Padres, he'd look a lot better. He's our worst everyday hitter, but he's not as bad as you(and others) portray him overall IMO, please don't ignore his defense and seeing a lot of pitches. Those things are important and something we lack elsewhere in the lineup.

    He has more HRs than AJ. ;)

    • Yasiel Puig is the one getting all the attention, but it’s been more about Hanley Ramirez. The Dodgers shortstop is looking a lot like the guy who won a batting crown four years ago, which makes sense since he finally feels like that guy again. Ramirez had three more hits to extend his hitting streak to 19 games. Over that span -- essentially, since he got off the disabled list just about the time the Dodgers got hot -- Ramirez is batting .486 with 14 extra-base hits in 74 at-bats.

    Mark Ellis wouldn't get playing time on the Padres... So you're right he would look better because nobody would have to look at him on the field.

    Seriously, Mark Ellis is awful with the bat.

    Can't take BABIP on its own at all times, you can look at Line Drive Rate to see if its grounders just squeaking through or not, and I'm assuming Hanley's LD rate right now is like 95% lol
