I know lots of Angel fans and lots of Dodger fans and neither one of them are inclined to STFU... Might not want to hold your breath on that one. I also don't know, nor have I personally seen, any Angel fans talking shit to Dodger fans. On my block more guys like the Angel's than Dodgers but they don't talk shit about the Dodgers either. They hate the Yankees and Red Sox, so that's OK. And I live in south OC so what should I expect? Most of these OC guys are fair weather fans who haven't too much of a clue about baseball in general. Except one guy who has had Angel season tickets for 24 years and he's very knowledgeable and cordial to all sports fans, including Dodger fans. But since he's been a season ticket holder for so long he doesn't qualify as a fair weather fan either so I give him props. Every local I meet who knows lots about baseball... tends to like the Dodgers even if they have been insufferable for the past 20 years.
I hate the Angels because they aren't the Dodgers. They are slightly more despicable than every other franchise because they are so personality devoid and boring. I would rather cut my own leg off than watch the Angels doing anything but lose. I just struggle to put into words how much they bore me.
I just think it's lame how they've been trying to be "LA" for almost a decade now. Then it was them drafting younger brothers of former Dodger players. It just seems like they really want to be the Dodgers.
I don't like it but if I took my local bias out of it, who cares about the name. Dallas Cowboys don't play in Dallas. Detroit Pistons play in Auburn Hills. Washington Red Skins play in Maryland. San Framcisco 49ers gonna play in Santa Clara. List goes on. Angel Stadium is like 30 miles away. Closer to Dodger Stadium than some parts of the actual city of LA are. Whether Anaheim is actually in OC or not. Would it be so much more acceptable if they played in Long Beach or La Puente or something? I mean it's Anaheim not San Juan Capistrano. Yeah, as a fan and local it's gay and annoying. But if I lived somewhere else what the hell is 30 miles down the freeway? So many other teams do it. It's not the name that bothers me. It's the billboards and stuff. That's lame as hell.
As a Dodger fan it offends me that the Angels claim to be "LA's" team. As a person who grew up in/lives in Orange County it offends me that the Angels want to disassociate themselves from Orange County. As a person in marketing it offends me that the Angels have changed their logo 11 times in my lifetime. They are literally offensive in every way possible.
Both NY football teams don't even play in that state....never mind the city. Next is playing in a different country. Like the LA Koi, playing in Nagasaki. Or the Christchurch Kiwis, playing in Sydney. I won't be around for the Earth Sapiens, playing in Lunar Colony VI. Unless Branch Rickey was cryogenically stored, or he is reincarnated...then it might happen.

My cousins husband an "Angel fan all his life," allegedly, I've been to angel games prior to 2002 and they couldn't fill the bottom row of that stadium. Anyway he vehemently hates the Dodgers and I say why you're not our rivals we don't give a shit about you guys. Homer as fuck too Puig is overrated and Weaver is better than Kershaw etc... So I see why people hate angel "fans."
Best thing they could do is change the name back to the city they play in, Anaheim Angels. Arte offended a lot of people in the OC by trying to be "LA's Team". Those are the same people that supported his team when they couldn't fill the field level if they gave away tickets. What a dumb-ass... By the way, I would think the Dodgers will find a place for Scioscia after the Angels fire him at the end fo the season???

I agree that while the Angels have been here for years the name that fit was the Anaheim Angels and if ego laden Arte would have left that alone he'd have a love less animosity from both sets of fans. As stated above the OC fans are none too happy with the name either. I don't see the Mets and Yankee fans getting their panties in a wad over both being called New York teams. Nor do I get offended by Arte's stupid media whore stunt. Nor have I seen any of the 'offensive' billboards but again that's Arte's biz so I expect some amount of that. And no I don't get offended by someone's hothead homer cousins husbands mailman's dog either. But I do get that virtually everyone posting to my reply has a very thin skin and are hyper easily offended by ANY challenge to the LA name. Damn glad the LA Raiders fucked off and died. Still miss the LA Rams though.
