Not psycho, just off. And not normal off. He could have been a dangerous personality to mix into the clubhouse. He was enough of a risk that even Andrew Friedman, who said he would rather win with bad chemistry than lose with good chemistry, shied away. He's had maturity issues since day one and the gun incident only shows that the immaturity is still a front and center issue. We have enough issues with Puig. IMO we don't need to play with fire.

Perhaps they'll revisit adding him when he turns free agent after the year?
The move being to let somebody else take the potential hit from fans, let it die down if he's innocent of whatever, and then revisit in the future?
He was said to be fine with a set up role, maybe they open up for both he and Kenley next off-season?
Don't know, but I didn't like this shit from the beginning.
The police closed the investigation long before the LAD had a deal in place..shit seems like it came back just to thwart us from the addition..
like somebody said " wait a minute! Dodgers can't have both Jansen and Chapman! What about that domestic case!?! "

Not buying it, Diablo. The top 3 "closers" of all time that come to mind are some of the most vanilla guys in the history of baseball. Kenley Jansen makes Clayton Kershaw look like a wild guy.

Here's why I don't like that piece...and I didn't even read it all...look at the date, it came after the deal was derailed and all the news popped up.
Where's the shouting from the rooftops before then?
Seems a little too convenient and to highlight his defection story is like come now...most every defection story has some shady business.
People/players go to the gun range to let off steam all the time, and maybe I seem like I'm defending him, but I could care less if he's shooting in his garage...unless he was shooting at someone.
MLB is the place to find guys of a brighter hue out there shooting at moving/living targets out in the open for sport, so I'm yawnin at what Chap did to the wall of his own garage.

    And chasing bimbos?
So what, that's damn near a right of passage in pro sports.
    All this alleged stuff.
And AF has been a guy who's given guy's second chances plenty of times, so this strikes me as " wait, the NFL is dealing with all the domestic flack...Imma chill for a sec on this high profile one ".
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm questioning the hell out of this regardless.

Andres deal is starting to look like a bargain after the year he had. Especially after cespedes gets paid. 2 years left, fan favorite, and will always hit righties so I'd say keep him at this point. Also intrigued by Johnson. High obp guy with a chance to be our only legit base stealer (difference between stealer and runner) Gotta get at least CC off the team to get him some playing time. Cut a fat check and send CC and a prospect to Tampa for one of their relievers.

Even when they get rid of CC that's still 6 OFs if you count Johnson.
    Don't forget SVS.
    Johnson/Joc/Puig/Trayce/Ethier/SVS
And all pretty much deserve to be in the show and playing quite a bit, somewhere else if not here.

That's why I said at least CC, thinking SVS has a ticking clock. If he gets off to a slow start he could be sent packing.

When I think of someone who is "a little off" I think of those people who let their dogs lick the inside of their mouth. When I think of a psychotic nutjob asshole, I think of the guy who goes after his woman and then shoots up his property. Let him have a great year in NY. Yankees don't have a legit chance to win anyways.

With SVS' ability to play 1B, and being 4yrs younger than Ethier, I'm not sure if he's the right guy to go either.
And they love versatile guys who can play multiple spots, so that OF/IF tag should hold some value with them.
You take Greinke away and then SVS...and then dump AJ next year...we better stop worrying about Chap going off and start worrying about CK. Lol

From what I gather he didn't have a gun range set up in his garage. He got in a heated fight with his baby-momma and in anger locked himself in his garage and fired his gun into the wall. If a guy is out hunting deer like he's pissed off at the deer, that should raise a red flag too. I've never seen a guy at a shooting range huffing and puffing and yelling about his girlfriend before firing shots. It's not shooting a gun in his garage that's a big deal, it's the whole story and motive around it.

Is it off to lock yourself in your garage after a heated fight and let shots off?
I'll answer that like this...would you feel different if he got into his car and drove to a gun range to blow off the steam?
    See what I'm saying?
People handle stress differently, you don't have to see somebody screaming and huffin and puffin at the gun range to see/feel tension.
Now, she should have been scared, no question, but she's alive and not only did he reportedly NOT hit her ( which she reportedly lied about), but he wasn't shooting at her.
He was mad, but not to the point where he couldn't compose himself, make a decision to lock himself away and then let loose.
That doesn't scream out of control to me, that's more like have the guy talk to somebody, professional help and he'll be OK.

It's just all too convenient for me in regards to Chap.
That DV story looks like it was around 2 months old and then a big deal is made of it when he's finally on the move.
Reeks of some hater blowing the whistle.
And I wouldn't put it past Preller as the SOB blowing the whistle with their shady business approach in SD.
He had his guy Kimbrel on the market along with Chap, so it wouldn't shock me if he'd been on some " hey, you know Chap had a DV case...deal with us instead " all along.
And in that piece they said Cincy basically called and told the Padres to STFU about Chap, so there you go.

I'll agree on this point. What he did was better than choking his girlfriend and shooting her in the face.

It wasn't the best decision, I can say that, and he obviously has anger issues.
But to the point of no return?
That's a stretch, there's still some control in there, some sense of responsibility at least.
Maybe they didn't want him around Puig and having him rub off and then a young Puig who's already a wild child potentially/ultimately going to the point of no return.
A lot of young Cubans in LAD's org, maybe that played a part in the decision as well.

They said DH wouldn't be applied by 2017 for the new CBA...I'm guessing they'd just make the change like they did with replay if that's the case.
" For the good of the game " type of thing, go back in and edit so to speak maybe in '18 or '19 or somethin.
But that'd be cool if it were in place by 2017, Ethier/SVS platoon DHs with Micah starting in LF/leading off.

I'm going to be sad to see the DH put in place, but it's inevitable. The players definitely want it. There will be plenty of casual fan support to make it a hit. Teams with money, like us, will be better for it - one more spot to outspend the competition.

    But it will be sad.
