again, who created those expectations you fucken child?!!!
    • “It’s been a process,” Roberts said, “As far as managing expectations, managing, as you say, the bullseye. And it’s more just turning our focus internally. We have a slogan about, ‘Just win a baseball game,’ ‘Just win today.’ So regardless of expectations, a bad game, a good game, I think that when you focus on each other and trying to play good baseball, it sort of minimizes it and drowns out those expectations. But when you wear that Dodger uniform, you’re either going to love us or hate us. And I’ve already kind of reconciled that.”

While I'm told the #Dodgers have not made a final decision on Cody Bellinger's future, the chances are better than 50/50 that he will be removed from the roster via trade or non-tender by 8 pm ET today.

Yeah, have to imagine he will be non-tendered and likely not brought back on a cheaper contract either.

If coaching hasn't figured out how to get him back on track after 2 years, doesn't seem like there's any reason to bring him back in hoping he will return to MVP form. Dude can still play defense though.

No issues with Cody and wish him well. If another team is able to help him get back on track, good for them and him.

    Dodgers to non-tender Bellinger
by Anthony Franco | MLB Trade Rumors — 2 minutes ago

The Dodgers will not tender a contract to Cody Bellinger, reports Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic (Twitter link). Once finalized by the team, the 2019 NL MVP will be a free agent. MLBTR contributor Matt Swartz had projected Bellinger for an $18.1MM salary if tendered.

It’s not a surprising decision at this point, but it’s one nobody would’ve foreseen when he was collecting his MVP trophy three years ago. He blasted 47 home runs that season and posted an overall .305/.406/.629 line across 661 plate appearances. The left-handed hitter looked to have cemented himself as one of the sport’s preeminent sluggers, and he carried a career .278/.368/.559 mark in over 1800 plate appearances heading into 2020. At age 24, Bellinger seemed a budding superstar.

Unfortunately, things have gone south over the past few seasons. He stumbled a bit during the abbreviated 2020 campaign, putting up a .239/.333/.455 line in 56 games. That was still above-average production but a notable step back from the numbers of his first few seasons. A putrid .245 batting average on balls in play seemed to be a major cause of that, and one could certainly point to the anomalous circumstances that year in anticipating a bounceback.

That’s not how things have played out, seemingly in part due to an ill-advised celebration that postseason. Bellinger dislocated his right shoulder celebrating a crucial home run in Game 7 of the 2020 NLCS. While he played out the postseason, he underwent surgery in mid-November. Bellinger was healthy enough to open the 2021 campaign on the roster, but he battled a series of unrelated leg and rib issues. In between, his slash line plummeted to a meager .165/.240/.302 in 95 games.

    More to come.

People slip and fall and break their necks and die all the time in this country. I don't know why it can't be this guy.

There's about one hundred baseball guys - and girls - of all colors and shades and ages in the minor leagues and majors that could do just as well as this guy has done. Why he's special ... who can say? I can't.

This guy is the most underachieving son of a bitch in the history of modern baseball. But he's doubly blessed because he's both Asian and Black, so we're all supposed to fall down and scream out the name of Mao Tse Tung and Martin Luther King because of the perfection of his coming together....

I just don't give a damn anymore. I think the only salvation I have as a Dodger fan is if the team has three consecutive losing seasons and they bottom out so fucking badly that I come back out of pity.

I could live with that scenario.

Get the roster down to 25. Fill it with rooks. Roll the dice. Take your chances.

Senga has already traveled and met with the Giants, Mets, and now Padres. He's going on a FA tour of America.

Word going around now is Dodgers will make a run at Aaron Judge. Logical with $100M now off the books with Bellinger, Kimbrel, Anderson, Heaney, Price and 2 Turners off the roster. Needs include SS, 3B, SPs, RP and now OF.

Judge and Correa, get it done.

Not likely for Judge though, feel like the Yankees fanbase would never forgive ownership for that. If you're the Yankees, you hand him a blank contract and ask him to fill it out.

Boras is such a filthy whore (and not in a good way)I just know that he wants out of his deal with Belli. He can't make as much off the guy as he'd like so now he's got to WalMart the guy.

Boras .... he's slime. Belli isn't who he used to be, but I don't hate him. But Boras .... He's pure Dante's Inferno material.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike Boras as much as the next guy. The 1 year play is kind of the only option here for Belli, IMO. Nobody (I think) is giving him multiple years worth anything significant... maybe something incentive heavy - but that shouldn't be super sexy for a guy like Belli who hasn't done shit offensively the last 2+ years.

Best bet is to go year to year, hope he figures it out and then sign a decent multi year deal.

For what it's worth, the agent works for the player. If Belli wanted a longer contract, he'd probably ask Boras to get it done.

Toronto and Colorado would be nice fits for Belli. Needs a stadium where the balls tend to fly (tee'd you up Irish).
