    Realmuto Rumors in the Morning:
    • Heyman is reporting that progress was made between the Reds and Marlins, but the two teams are still apart on the prospects that would be going back.
    • C. Trent Rosecrans(Cincy Beat Writer) was on the MLB Network this morning and said that the Reds are not willing to include Senzel or Trammell in trade talks. Personally, I would not be shocked if Greene is off limits too, but the India in talks make a lot of sense since they have a nice little line forming at 3B.
    • Kevin Acee (SD Beat Writer) was also on MLB Network and he said that the Padres are not considering Mejia in trade talks. Which according to Rosenthal, is something the Marlins are insisting on.
    • Rosenthal is saying that the Reds are definitely interested in Realmuto, but the talks yesterday may have been a bit overblown. Though he does think both the Reds and Padres are the frontrunners in talks now.

I hope both of these are true as it puts the Dodgers on even ground if they are offering Verdugo or Keibert.

What the Marlins are said to be zeroing in on with both of those clubs, makes this whole thing seem like a farce to me. It makes no sense for either of those teams to move the guys that the Marlins are said to be asking for when you are not likely to compete this year, Miami is not letting you negotiate an extension and each of those teams have catchers under control already for long term deals and they both desperately need starting pitching. It all stinks to high heaven to me that the Marlins are leaking these negotiations hoping the Dodgers are gonna freak out and overpay.

Word is it’s not true because you can’t have prop bets of where players go.

Tim Brown of Yahoo sports is reporting MLB is NOT currently investigating the Dodgers or any other team for that matter for international misconduct

    • Passan went on ESPN today for the first time since his transition over and said both the Machado and Harper sweepstakes are said to be nowhere close to the finish line.
    • Something I forgot to mention the other day in the Baseball Prospectus prospect list. In their best talent under 25 section, Urias was still near the top of the org, coming in at #6, just behind Dustin May(#2 upside) and ahead of Keibert Ruiz. They are wary of what he will truly become after the surgery, but they said that if he continues to look anything like he did in the playoffs and/or improves, the org will be in good shape with him and Buehler at the top of the rotation with May on the way.

So I totally forgot about this but Goldschmidt was traded in December to the Cards. He is a FA at the end of this year. He is 32 in September, so yeah he is much older than Machado/Harper but he only has like 80 more games played than those guys. He could be had on a 3-5 year deal at an AAV of say $20 - $25MM/year. The guy mashes every year and in that time frame has hammered out 20+ more HR than either. The only problem is that Turner needs to stay at 3b then....which may not be wise.

Bellinger would be in LF or RF. No way you platoon Goldie. Im more worried about Turner staying healthy at the hot corner. Moving him to 1b might lengthen his career.

I don't get Goldy, each of the last two seasons(end of 2017, early 2018 and end of 2018) I have thought that he was nearing the downhill of his career. Bat looked slow as all hell, couldn't hit anything over 95 MPH, then he will just turn on the jets and crush for like 2 months straight. I do think the bat is getting slower, so I could see teams being wary of giving him a long term deal. With that said, unless Muncy takes a giant step backwards(totally possible), I don't see much of a chance that the Dodgers would actually consider him.

I miss out on all the creative fun, because I'm not a 'guys we definitely won't get' lineup guy.
I must say its stiff upper lip, considering the endless guys we were shoe-ins to sign and absolutely didn't.
    That's the spirit..

Hmmmm... take it for what it’s worth, but Bowden just said that from what he’s hearing, the Dodgers aren’t done yet. He said he’ll be surprised if the Dodgers aren’t the ones to get Realmuto, but he also knows that the Dodgers and Indians have re-engaged in talks for Kluber. He’s not sure how serious these talks are, but he’d guess this is a backup to missing on Realmuto.

My New Year's resolution is to get CKWG to 'like' a politically incorrect post. He just won't budge. No matter how hard (homo) I try
