    Pirates' ace against Grove and cast of thousands. What could go wrong?

    Dodged a bullet big time last night.

    As much as Vargas has progressed at his position he's regressed that much as a hitter. Disappointing to say the least. Not sure that long swing is going to work against MLB pitching.

    yeah the fielding was the concern and finding a place for his bat was going to be the trick

    Didn't think this kid Sheehan had a such shit game in him so soon. He just had such good command...until tonight.
    Guess it's just hoping we had at least one dependable starter left, but they're all pretty mediocre. Except for CK.

    Is there anyone who can shut a lineup down without hit after hit on this staff besides Phillips and Hudson?
    Every guy out there... it's like a merry go round, every inning.
    That last Pirate run was courtesy the umpire.
