Yeah man it got so bad I guess.

I’m disgusted that we’re supposed be the super power of the world yet we run these tools out election after election. Joe Biden is the lesser of two evils in my mind. I might be painted here as a “leftist” but in reality I’m more in the middle and really more in my own lane of where my beliefs flow. But Trump is a self serving power hungry tool bag.

I just don’t see how a guy your age is in line with his politics but you do you.

I was told once that I should stick to baseball analysis but damn man... I just can’t understand how peeps get down with him. Especially in Cali

Thing is, what’s 600k for a guy like trump. It’s clearly a political move to say that he doesn’t need to be paid to do this job, and that he has plenty of money. Dudes got more skrilla than any politician so he can do it and look good to all his red neck followers that only make 19-26k a year. His big dawg following who make millions can laugh at the 600k. Dude wipes his ass with hundred dollar bills bro.

also- 600k to run the United States Of America is a laugh.

Also if you think about it? What’s 600k for most well off people. 4-6 years of salary?

    Mousey,

If/when the mob comes to Irvine, you will change your mind on a lot of things. Even if you double down publicly.

You are right. We cannot comprehend each other’s conclusions because our personal experiences and perceptions of the world are so different.
I would not even know where to start.

I think you would make a good politician.
You have the temperament, sense of humor, and acting chops to be an endearing ‘moderate Democrat’ that would raise taxes by 4 trillion, eliminate fossil fuel, defund the police, put social workers in the streets, advocate for sanctuary cities, give taxpayer funded lawyers, healthcare, and schooling to illegal aliens, expand the welfare state, support abortion up to the ninth month, support Marxist groups such as Black Lives Matter while they burn cities (again, not Irvine) to the ground, abolish single-family zoning (again, except for Irvine), and push for a more secular humanistic society with larger government that fuels all existing and future problems….

...Okay, I am sure you wouldn’t do all that.
But you have the opportunity to vote for it.

It won’t end until we have fallen completely.
All the wild-eyed conspiracy theories are becoming reality.
Bernie himself says things that seemed radical 6-8 years ago seem mainstream now.

I will take Trump for now. Then see what happens.

I see great promise in Donald. I saw something special in Barack too, but he took the wrong path. We won’t agree on that. Oh well!

watching the senators and people leaving the RNC fearing for their safety because they didn't choose to protect them should be enough for anyone watching
choosing who gets protected because you control the LE?
how about when its your turn?
imagine that happening to any democrat in office and the difference in reaction

    1) if he writes it off on his personal taxes, he realizes 35% of the value.
    2) it sounds like he still gets to decide where the money goes, much like the rest of us do with our salary.

Besides the amount being trivial, the end result doesn’t save the taxpayer any money. And given that he can’t disperse money as part of his job without asking for favors in return, I’m not going to assume the money he personally donates doesn’t also come with strings attached.

That is EXACTLY the same as not accepting the salary, he doesn't realize a net gain by donating. This is a common misconception regarding donations.
The 35% value you reference represents a tax deduction based on what he would have paid had he accepted the salary.
If he received the salary, he would have paid 35% taxes on the 400k, but not paying that 35% tax because he gave the salary away doesn't yield a net gain for him. It's exactly the same as if he didn't receive the salary in the first place.

He's been spreading around to various gov't agencies, not charities that benefit him.

So in every case it's going back into the US gov't. This looks like a pretty impartial, non-political list to me. But I guess you could take it a step farther and just dump it back into the U.S. Treasury.

It's his salary as set by law. At least we now agree that he's not accepting it and moved on to diminishing that fact.

The taxpayer gets $400k of additional gov't services every year because some gov't agency gets money they wouldn't have otherwise had.
If he writes it off, the gov't loses $140k of revenue next year due to the tax writeoff.
So even with that considered, the taxpayer gets $260k of additional government value every year.
I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to decide if giving the government more money actually has any value to the people.

At least you agree that he is not taking has salary.
Nothing in DC comes without string attached, but at least he seems to be spreading it around without too much of an obvious political agenda based on the above.
Again, the only way to truly make it without strings attached would be to give it back to the U.S. Treasury, but there could still be assumptions....

I wasn't even talking about donating his salary when I was talking about sacrifice.
What I meant was people like Obama and especially the Bidens and Clintons had everything to gain (and did, shamelessly and corruptly in government) by being president and Trump had everything to lose.
I don't throw around the TDS term lightly, but the fact that somebody can turn donating a half million dollars into a negative is peak TDS.
96% negative is due to a mental disorder.
    Sorry.

Sure he donates his salary but let’s not discuss how Trump uses his position to funnel tens of millions of dollars into his businesses/hotels.

“The tax payer gets an additional 400k in services..” until they are on the hook for the hundreds of millions wasted by Trump on regular golf trips and meaningless vacations (Often to his own properties).
