I thought the second inning of last night's game was one of the best Dodger innings I've seen in a long time. A far cry from the 1 for 14 with RISP that had plagued us in the past. However, too bad about Corey, the lack of news about it though, is perplexing.
http://m.dodgers.mlb.com/news/artic...ger-having-mri-on-hamstring/?topicId=27118384 Hopefully nothing more than that for many reasons, one being he's swinging it better than he has all year.
Game seemed to change when Wood pitched his way out of the first inning. Definitely set the tone for the evening.
Could be because when we went 44-8, many of us thought it was last year. Then, the Greinke year or two in a row, so faith waxes and wanes, like phases of the moon. I sure hope you're right, though.
I know you're not serious. But even with Wood's great season so far, he couldn't be considered a 1 or even 1b until he was consistently pitching 7-8 innings per start.
absolutely at the time i posted how huge it was in retrospect you could argue the game was won/lost right there just as huge (perhaps even more) was coming back with 3 immediately after colorado tied it on guti's ineptness
they've both been terrible if gutierrez was hitting it would be one thing but a .236 hitter (.200 vs. lhp btw) who's horrible defensively... would have been a shutout yesterday with even an average lf out there have a feeling he'll get dfa'd if/when trayce is called up as for forsythe i understand giving him a little more rope he'd been really good the last two years so while i hated him hitting leadoff, i get roberts thinking that he'd see better pitches in front of seager but yeah, even that didn't help he just looks uncomfortable in these surroundings playing for shit <.500 teams like the pads and rays is one thing but all of a sudden playing for the best team in the nl... i don't get the feeling he's going to be able to make the adjustments they should ask him to accept a demotion to aaa to figure shit out if he accepts, great if not, hand him his $8MM and tell him to hit the road
I'm from LA. Moved out here to CO when I was 9 with my folks, but I was already big into the Dodgers. My grandma used to listen to every game on her handheld radio and I would listen with her when she lived in Agoura. After we moved here, she came with us and at the time the Dodgers AAA was still in ABQ where I guess they used to broadcast the big league games from, cause somehow that woman would get the Dodgers games on that little radio of hers. So I would still listen along until she passed when I was about 12. The Rockies were always terrible so it made it pretty easy not to change allegiances. I've moved back to LA a couple times, but decided the town is no longer for me, but I still love my hometown teams.
strange times is it weird that when i looked at the pitching matchups (wood/kersh/mccarthy) my biggest concern was game 2? funnier because every one of his stats/numbers is in line with prior years except one... the hr
colorado with two rhp the next two games no reason to see forsythe or gutierrez anywhere near the bat rack
Gutierrez was needed because we weren't sure if any of our righties would be good against lefties or suck ass again. But Enrique, Taylor, Turner, and Forsythe have all been great or good and Seager/Bellinger/Barnes have been good as well. So now, Gutierrez isn't nearly as necessary, which is a good thing. And he sticks out as awful since our bench is full of athletic, multi position guys and he can barely play LF. He's probably due for a fake injury soon and can call up Eibner and see if he'll do better against LHP
I think Trayce is the better option with Corey down. Taylor or Kike are gonna be plugging short, leaving LF open and CF with the obligatory (yet I'll-advised) Joc platoon. I know Eibner has Bonds power potential like Orel has stated, but let's plug in someone with long-term big league potential.
forsythe again?!!! wtf roberts? Utley 1B Pederson CF Turner 3B Bellinger LF Grandal C Forsythe 2B Puig RF Hernandez SS Kershaw P
