10 years for a guy who is allegedly 32 seems a bit long to me. 10/250 so they will be paying him 25M when he's 42? allegedly.

There's some discussion going on in the around the MLB thread, but yeah you're right. It's great to be able to sign an impact player like Pujols, but a ten year contract is too long.

Checkmate would be Arte Moreno and the LA Mayor Villaraigosa holding hands outside the Staples Center, talking about a new Angels stadium.

I'd say checkmate right now, the Angles own LA. Done deal. They will out draw the Dodgers for the next 10 years book it.

Dodger stadium seats 56,000 and Anaheim 33,000. With the new owners coming in the attendance will spike so it would be hard pressed to make up that 23,000 per game. Of course DS won't be a sellout every night but you get the point.

CJ Wilson said on Sportscenter that he would have preferred to sign with the Dodgers

He got 15.33 mil per year; I think with our backloaded shit we could have gotten him for 12 mil which is almost Juan Rivera, Capuano, and Harang

    Yeah, Ned sucks.

Angels will never own LA. Are you kidding me? When the Angels are good, Orange County will make LA look bad (at least right now). OC being hyped up doesn't expand their empire beyond Disneyland.

It doesn't matter.... The Dodgers will still own LA despite Arte's spending spree

I don't think they'll outdraw us for the next ten years. but they very well may have stepped up their game with this move. Fucking hell man. And to think, we all thought they would suck with their new GM coming in. Well, we still have Ned and they have Pujols. This is really starting to piss me off. Getting rid of Frank was supposed to be a God send for us.

The Marlins offered Pujols 27 million per for 10. They felt it worthwhile investment as he has a tremendous following in the Latino community. This magnet now plays in LA for the Angels. Is this Manny mania on steroids? Moreno has now effectively countered our extension of Kemp with an even greater mega star (if Kemp is even one yet). Our new owners will not have the same level of talent available in 2013 to strike back by signing. It may not be until 2014. Our reality could be losing Dre after 2012 and not being able to easily replace him in free agency. That would be one less marque player for us.
Dodger attendance will return but for the first ( who know how long) the headlines will be about Anaheim being sold out again. So will Latin fans in LA who are deciding whether to buy tickets for 2012 now jump on the Pujols bandwagon? The first Latino owner now has aligned with the greatest Latino player in the game. Now that is a great marketing mix.

some people confuse better team with more popular team. angels are better, but even with pujols arent more popular. once the dodgers get new ownership, watch out
as it is every NLW team is afraid of us. and there was speculation today that the angels know the dodgers are close to strangling the market, and that arte had to go all in for pujols now
    manny was a character
    pujols is a boring superstar

Will be interesting to see how his lack of baggage plays out with the marketing department. The now disclosed issues regarding the media rights moving forward might unfortunately impact that stranglehold. Remember this signing isn't about us it is about the Angels so the mere fact they have us debating the stature of the teams may be telling.

I'll take that bet. The Angels absolutely will not outdraw the Dodgers over the next decade. In their franchise history they have outdrawn the Dodgers exactly one time, in 2011. And that had little to nothing to do with the Angels.
