I should be happy. Frank's reign of terror is finally over, the greatest figure in LA sports history now the face of the Dodgers and the most wealthy sports ownership group in the world owns the team, great times are ahead for all. But I'm not. Frank, a carpetbagging scumbag who bought the team on credit and then proceeded to run the franchise into the shitter and use the fans loyalty as a personal ATM woke up this morning a Billionaire. Let me repeat that Billionaire with a B and Dodgers fans are rejoicing? Lets face reality the "Magic" group, overpayed tremendously. Where is franks leverage in this? He took the team into bankruptcy and could not emerge without this deal so WHY IN THE FUCK would ANYONE pay ANYWHERE near 1 Billion let alone 2.15????? WHY DIDN'T MLB SEIZE THE TEAM?????????? Also how could ANYONE allow that POS to own even a season ticket? let alone half of the land? How is this possible? In my eyes this deal is bullshit, Magic and his group are a pack of morons, for one paying 2 BILLION dollars for a team valued at 800 something MILLION by Forbes and secondly, for not demanding (like every other group did) that mccourt is GONE once and for all from everything Dodger related. Dodger fans we just went to the prom with our sister. I am holding out hope that somehow, someway this deal will get denied.
not sure where you've been lately but my first post after the sale was announced was one word. fools magic and his group bid against themselves i hate that frank made big money he's laughing and smiling like a madman right now evil won the parking lots tweak me immensely it makes no sense and the only thing i feel good about is not having to think about mccourts and get back to baseball
It's not ideal, and it's annoying that McCourt walks away with anything, but in the end we just need to get over it. This group appears to be as good as any group we could have asked for, has money, experience, and didn't spend like this to lose. Frank owns half the land, but as far as I'm concerned he's Magic's problem now.
if you're angry of him owning half the land, don't park at the stadium. Easy. Don't give Frank the dollar. Just spend spend spend on the actual team.
Scumbag yes. Cant hate on him for turning a profit though. Take the Loyalty to the team out of it. He owned the team. He did a horrible job but he Owned it. And turned a massive profit. Welcome to America. Assets dont need to be handled properly in order to make money out of it. Or to earn a piece of the parking lot. He sold it for the terms he wanted. And he got it. I dont see why people are worried about 2 billion either. The group HAD THE MONEY CASH. If they can buy it and see the profit.. do it. Im actually ENCOURAGED by the 2 billion dollar deal. They are not in this for a short term flip. A massive group like this puts in that much money because the only way to make a profit is LONG TERM success of the franchise. Forbes determined a value as of RIGHT NOW. Not over the next 20 years. McCourt would have been seen as a fool for buying the team for DOUBLE the price in 2004. Today he would be seen as a genius for turning double the profit. So financially... its YTBD the ultimate value in the long run. My. 02 regarding the sale price.
I get that and I am the last person to hate on someone for making a profit but he deserved to live the rest of his life begging for quarters doing a shoe shine dance. It sickens me that some one can FAIL so miserably at business and get rewarded but hey this is Obama's America. The auto unions bankrupt GM and they are rewarded with ownership in the company. (Diablo I fit that in for you)
well i totally disagree this is the result of obamas america its always been this way its not fair but welcome to the real world i also wish he had to walk away head down and destitute but the stars weren't aligned that way and as tuborg relentlessly and correctly pointed out daily, he is one shrewd motherfucker now he gets to shake hands and party that totally sucks but not as much as if he had gotten the tv deal and stolen that too
I'm excited! Let's kick some ass! I could honestly care less about Frank's involvement as long as we win. Hell, I probably never would've had a problem with Frank in the first place if we did win, and if we did spend money. Makes no sense to sit here and dwell on it. Times are finally starting to look better for us.
I mean yeah, it sucks that McCourt got such a huge amount of money. But we never have to deal with him again. This is a huge upgrade. The Times They Are a-Changin'
I get where SC is coming from. We all hate Frank and it would make us all happy to see the man die slowly, but we all knew he'd be coming off with quite a bit of cash here. It was inevitable. The point though is we have our team back. Frank will no longer be at the helm, and hopefully, Ned will be gone, too. This is a big victory for the fans.
That's a really good question for anyone with a brain, and the answer is because it would have been completely illegal.
as information has been released, Frank's involvement is only on future land development, not on the parking money, not on the team operation, just on the land value... as someone said, ideal? sure not... important? not really... These guys KNOW that they cant stand next to Frank or will get booed out of DS... did they overpaid? YES, but I'm sure that someone with a lot more preparation than us took a longer look at the financial statements, ran some scenarios, evaluated the impact of the RSN and told them "you can go $2B and still come out with good cash"... Lets enjoy this moment and hold our grudges for the day they announce that Ned will stay as GM...
FWIW: McCourt gets no parking revenue http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/...rking-revenue-los-angeles-dodgers-sources-say
that makes me feel better about it but i still have no idea why they couldn't shake completely free of that pos at 2.15
