The bullpen HAS stepped it up recently to their credit Now if only the offense was even close to mediocre we'd have a chance.
actually like roberts publicly disputing grandal with each passing day yas seems like more of a douche glad turner got in his face too wish someone like svs would bkitch slap him due is good at framing but extrememely overrated otherwise imo walk-off walk notwithstanding, of course (lol) Roberts disagrees with Grandal’s claim Dodgers are too relaxed by Matthew Moreno | Dodgers Nation — 3 hours ago While the heated dugout exchange between Yasmani Grandal and Justin Turner during the series opener with the Milwaukee Brewers remained a talking point the next day, the parties involved immediately insisted the matter was over with moments after it began. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts didn’t take issue with Turner’s actions, explaining he believes confrontation, when driven by the goal of improving, is acceptable. However, Roberts did not completely agree with Grandal’s claim of the Dodgers’ tendency thus far to rely on talent, not effort. “There are many games where we’re the better team,” Roberts said. “The reason we play is to see who was better that day. I know that as a manager, and I can speak to the coaches, I know a lot of the players aren’t relaxed and content going into a game.” Roberts continued: “I’d love to know which players he feels are content and don’t want to fight. They won’t play that night.” Los Angeles has won three consecutive games since Roberts’ response to Grandal’s comments. What’s more, they fought back from deficit in each of the victories. Whether or not the two are related can be debated. The more logical explanation is Turner’s sustained hot streak at the plate, and other bats coming to life. Although Turner went 1-for-4 with a single on Sunday, he entered the day 6-for-10 in the series, with three home runs and seven RBIs. Turner hit two home runs and the walk-off single in the Dodgers’ extra-innings victory on Friday night. Meanwhile, Grandal pinch-hit for A.J. Ellis in the bottom of the ninth inning on Sunday with the bases loaded and drew a walk-off walk. The Dodgers’ modest winning streak has helped them keep pace with the San Francisco Giants, who hold a 6.5 game lead for first place in the National League West and have won eight straight games.
Management always looks better when hitters hit. It's about damned time Turner found his stroke too... He needs to get his average up in the .280's if we're going to start making headway Same with Joc
agree on jt and he looks like he's headed that direction but i'd put a little lower barometer on joc would love .280, but .260 would suffice (and is probably more realistic)
ten days thats a good sample size of how well he is playing lately which is all that matters i personally think its dumb to look at a player hitting a certain way the past two weeks and then look at how he hit 2 months ago and decide that what he did back then has any bearing on what he is doing right now. when i look at justin turner swing the bat the past few weeks i see a 300 hitter. i see a leader i see a heck of a good player whose is actually hitting as high as .420 counting todays performance so far he keeps having good and great games and before the hits and home runs started coming in you could already tell for about a month that he had been hitting the ball harder and was having less of those unproductive at bats like earlier in the season baseball is not about stats for their own sake, stats are merely a way to measure how well a player is playing and right now justin turner is hitting the ball as well as anyone in baseball for the past two weeks. two weeks is nothing to sneeze at if he wasnt hitting like he has been then the dodgers would not have won a lot of the games they won these past two weeks and his power is back too he was hitting the balls harder for a while and now they are going out the park what more do you need to see?
not so much Rube, we're rather agreeing about Turner seeing the ball better and smacking it harder even when he was hitting .225 hell now that he's at .252 we're all just thrilled and delighted and the world is copacetic as long as Thompson stops sliding and doesn't dip below .250 himself and Joc gets above .235 himself
Who cares about the year numbers. How often you hitting the ball How hard you hittin it How well you seein it And how you doing that in pressure situations. All that matters.
is not small sample sizes who cares? Dodger fans care. What have you done for me lately counts also but the last 10 days does not fully erase a shitty season thus far. Can he keep at it and reach .300 still? Maybe. I'm a lot more willing to find out when he's on the north end of .250 than the south end of that stick
who cares what dodger fans care about? by that i mean what difference does it make, how is a fan a guy who just cares about numbers? when i was a kid i memorized the back of every baseball card i was a YUGE fan... of baseball cards. and stats... like these 'nerds' in the FO. stats and fantasy sports give fans an even more warped sense of value but if you want numbers ill give you these 9 HR, 23 RBI .276 .353 .571 last 30 games Is that enough of a sample size for you?
it's a start... of course when you stink it up so badly as he did in April (.247) and May (.225) there's not much room to move but upwards of course his line on 2 outs RISP is .200/.250/.200 so don't arrange the fan boy parade quite yet
