I hope the FO goes after another 39 year old reliever next season if someone like Clippard is available.
I wish we had Granderson, Yeah, that's funny...like the guy asking me if I named my dog Murphy after the Mets second baseman. But poor Bill...he shouldn't even have been out there playing 1b that game. Guy was hurtin' badly...and he was a good ballplayer and people remember principally that play...a cruel circus, baseball.
Watching both these teams, I really have no doubt that the best teams are playing. The Dodgers right now would have laid down after the inside the park homerun. How do you create an atmosphere of never quit, of fight in a team. We seem to miss that essential quality. Pissed and depressed.
and people forget what a great player he was when he was young guy could always hit but we're talking about a guy who once stole 30+ bases the red sox manager (i believe it was mcnamara) said he put buckner out there because he deserved to be out there when the sox won the championship just goes to show you have to play to win at all times
This KC team trusts one another and when you have trust, ultimately you show up to fight for the guys that you trust. I mean I don't think any team cleared the benches more than KC this year. They were at fault at times and other times they weren't, but they were always ready to put a foot up some asses regardless to the point where Red Forman would be proud. A good amount of guys in their everyday core came up together, played minor league ball together and that's part of it. We've got Corey and Joc and hopefully Schebler. Peraza saw time with Corey in AAA..not a lot of time of course, but maybe enough for a 2B/SS combo. Kike spent some time in AAA early in the season and shared the OF with Schebler. We have a nice, little pool of core young guys. One might throw Puig into that mix as well, but another one may not because of all the other stuff leading to a cloudy future for him with the team. But of course it's no exact science because we did have core of young guys that came up together before with Kemp, Loney, Martin, etc. However, I'll take this Seager/Joc led core over that one. But that's what KC has going for it..a young core that trusts one another and has a lot of experience to draw from.
Still can't get over KC being down 6-2 on the road vs the Astros in game 4 and being where they are now.
I haven't seen one inning, how's that? Haha I seriously am way too bitter and jealous to see other teams having all the fun. Especially when the Cards and Giants have been in it.
I feel you....this one is a lot easier for me since neither team bothers me too much, but I caught myself pulling hard against SF in their recent WS trips and wish I would have taken your route and just avoided the games all together.
I guess that is how it is for some... boycott the WS because of something totally unrelated...but I wonder, who does it hurt...or what effect does it have ultimately? It's more like punishing yourself...and it's impossible to punish the real "bad guy". I remember back in the day, I had a big break up with the gf...heartbroken...an excuse to get loaded and play the angry young man, etc. And swore that I would not go near any more women from that point on. Yeah...OK. ...lasted about a week.
great post 25+ guys playing/fighting as one a lot of people cap on ned yost but there is no doubt his players would run through walls for him and (crapshoot conspiracy notwithstanding) getting to the WS two years in a row is no accident and speaks volumes about him and his team
