Despite his Parkinson's? Oh man. The shit that would come from this place because of his mistakes. Poor Gibby
Gibby interviewed. They'd certainly have the intensity they've lacked with JoTo and DBB..... and he'd throw at the D'bKacks... http://www.dodgersnation.com/dodgers-news-team-interviews-kirk-gibson/2015/11/04/
gibby gets an interview out of respect not just for that one magic moment, but that entire 1988 season never has the term "most valuable player" ever been more applicable we don't even sniff the postseason without him anyone who lived through it knows exactly what i mean some moments transcend trump tradition he's earned this and every interview forever imo that said... he would be one of the last people i would hire for the job but as a bench coach?... perhaps light a little fire under people's asses
offs i hear jack mckeon isn't doing much Dodgers to interview Mets’ bench coach Geren by Anthony Irwin | Dodgers Nation — 10 minutes ago More candidates! News broke earlier this morning Kirk Gibson was interviewed and now, we’re seeing another name tied to the Los Angeles Dodgers arduous process of finding their next manager: New York Mets bench coach: Bob Geren. The Mets enjoyed a magical season this year, surprising everyone and making it to the World Series. When years like that occur, it usually becomes a feeding frenzy for anyone connected with that level of success. Terry Collins has already cashed in with a new deal. Now, his bench coach will probably be linked to managerial positions all over the league, especially after having been linked to the Dodgers. Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal was first to break the news: Ken Rosenthal ✔ @Ken_Rosenthal Sources: #Dodgers will interview #Mets bench coach Bob Geren for managerial opening. 7:57 AM — 4 Nov 2015 From 2006 to 2011, Geren managed the Oakland Athletics, but was fired after several reports surfaced about his unorthodox managing style. As is usually the case, though, Geren was hired only months later for another position within baseball. He’s been the Mets’ bench coach since 2011. Geren seems like a long shot to be hired considering the momentum with other candidates like Gabe Kapler, Dave Roberts and Dave Martinez. That said, given how detailed this search has been thus far, it’s hard to really rule anyone out completely.
Irish, can you elaborate on Geren's " unorthodox style? It isn't winning is it? I do wonder how reports (?) of this was the cause of his dismissal after he was there six -count 'em- six goddam years. They must really be on their toes out there, eh? And we did get Ethier from them, right? Oh, wait...we hate him now, don't we?
Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said he planned to have a manager in place by the winter meetings, which will be held December 7-10 in Nashville. i would fucken hope so some players (free agents) will chase the but others might want to know who the manager is before committing
And apropos what you wrote, there must be a shitload of players who are chomping at the bit to play for Dave Roberts...
Mind you , I have nothing against the guy at all...damn good ballplayer...always liked him. But he's established nothing, imo, as far as managerial acumen and ability. However, I always am aware that there is shit going on that I simply miss and is going on without my knowledge...so, maybe that's it. But I can't really say Roberts, respected as I think he is in BB, is a great fit for the Dodgers right now. But Jim Tracy to me was basically an unknown, and he took a much lesser team to the playoffs, without much credit at all...and also gave us the only professional team behaving like a LL loser at Williamsport that I can honestly remember.
I'd be pissed as fuck if they hired Kirk Gibson dude has been nothing but a shit bag towards the Dodgers since I've been alive, fuck him.
