It's not like ryu relies on blowing hitters away with his fastball. If he still has his control and breaking pitches he could still be a #3/4 at some point imo. Hopefully he builds his arm strength up and starts really rolling towards the end of the year.

FWIW, tomorrow will be 8 weeks for Ethier, given his 10-14 week timeline, July 1st is probably a reasonable expectation.

I'm not really pessimistic on Puig. Just don't want him to take on too much responsibility on this team because, well...he fails a lot and makes me sad. If he can play defense and hit to his career averages, I'm fine with him. I don't expect him to be an MVP. But competence would be nice.

There have not really been updates on Ethier or Montas. Hopefully each aren't behind schedule.

Man... remember when MLB suspension rumors were a big thing. Talk about a letdown. Like Star Wars: Episode 1 level letdown.

Yeah it was supposed to be raining suspensions.
Wonder if something happened behind the scenes

June 12ish is the 4th month of recovery for Montas, was given a 2-4 month timeline if I remember correctly, so we gotta be hearing something soon

What could happen behind the scenes? Don't wanna be naive here, but are we talking about somebody's palm getting greased?
Can't be that...positive piss test is positive piss test. How do you not act on that?

And over optimism about him ( like that for Grandal ) might be misplaced and unrealistic. I mean drive in a run once in a while with RISP when we aren't ahead by 4.
Granted, the underachievement of the team as a whole might add to the frustration with him...but offensively, he's mostly past fabulousity and "potential".
Maybe he'll get sat, and return newborn, and merit the level of superstardom he enjoys.
    Cubano, por favor...

Or a successful appeal? Everyone knows a piss test taken on the second Tuesday of the month under a full moon is invalid.

Stop thinking of him as a suposed superstar.
Once you get past that then he's just another promising player who has played great buy is now not getting it done.
    Like turner.
Puig has never hit a ton of home runs or been a superstar. The media made him and now folks mad or disappointed or but hurt I don't know.
It's a hype thing. If you get wraoped up in hype you end up falling from a tall cliff.
Someone earlier said they don't expect much just that he hit at his career averages.
That's a lot to expect frankly.
He may never be that guy.
    He probably never was.
If Trayce keeps playing like he is and puts up great numbers for a year and a half and then sucks for another year and half before setting into a decent but not star player... thats basebal. We shouldn't hate the guy. We should be grateful for the good he did while he was able to do it.
And root for him to succeed until hes replaced.

Good points, mostly, imo...but there's nothing in my post about hatred in any way shape or form. To mention that he does very little offensively now is fact, not hatred. And as you are in agreement to his level of media created superstardom he enjoys, whether justified or not, would be a good thing if he played somewhat like one...even a little. Offensively. Defensively, he is.
And he was percieved as a superstar initially, by media and fans, and it wasn't a fantasy. It was real.
    That's baseball, too.

It certainly would be a fine day if someone clocked his redneck ass...but quite honestly, he's been acting this way for a long time, and no one has done shit to him.
Frankly, I think players are afraid of him.
To do nothing for so long indicates fear, imo.

A one-hopper to the cup would suffice. Even better if he wasn't wearing a cup.

Heard a short lecture many years ago from a former Braves' pitcher who told us he didn't wear one and John Roseboro made him live to regret it. His twin boys were reduced by one.

    Ouch.

    Yeah...lovely scenario.
But God is a Sf Giant fan, as we all are aware, and that will never happen.
And really, I'm not looking for an accident from a batted ball when this guy is eventually writhing on the ground in pain ( oh joy! But I'll take it )...I want to see him smacked/punched in his shitkicking mouth by an irate player who has had enough of his superior fucking attitude. He is the biggest scumbag in the game now, elevated to that position after the Joey Bats punchout. No. 1 on the "hit" parade in my world.
But, as I posted previously, I do believe they are afraid of him.
