Beat the Heat, beat the Warriors, and bringing the Clippers their 1st chip is a helluva legacy to leave behind. Kevin Durant dreams of that legacy. Big play. Clippers defense gonna be nasty next year
I'm guessing we only give out two year deals and and leave open the possibility of Giannis in 2021. I hope the Bucks don't do anything from now on and it pisses Giannis off
well they're not that bad. Plus we have our own 2nd star in AD. I love how the narrative is switching though. Hopefully this will light a fire under brons ass because the national media is now gonna crown the clips the kings of LA. Hopefully we can get the "Im doing it for Cleveland" Lebron.
It does make the entire NBA landscape more competitive. A weekend GS. Houston in turmoil. The Nets suddenly interesting. Bucks looking good right now. Toronto wounded but still with some pop. Celtics getting Kemba. Horford making the 76'ers looking like a world beater. The Clips trying to be relevant and the Lakers with established stars and hopefully and up and coming star. Nevermind the Pels looking good with future assets in their pockets, and Utah adding some firepower. BUT, it still makes me angry how this went down. I'm sure the Clips had a deal in place with OKC when they met with KL. But KL, the Clips and OKC timed this to thoroughly f*ck the Lakers and Toronto. That is some cold blooded crap.
Basically he wanted to go to the clippers all along. He never wanted to form some superteam to win rings. He acted like he was contemplating a decision between Toronto and the Lakers to buy time for the clippers to get a deal done with okc to team up with Paul George. All the while the biggest threat the crosstown rival Lakers missed out on most of the other free agents out there, including max guys like Butler and Kemba and even the 3rd tiered guys like DLO and Randle etc etc. He was never stuck on where he was going to. The Raptors trip, all the meetings were all show.
FA officially started this past Sunday, June 30th. By July 1st pretty much all available big FAs were signed. It is the in funny joke in the NBA that although you can't talk to a FA until 3:00 PM PST on Jun 30th, all FAs have pretty much have agreements in place to sign ASAP once 3:00 and 1 second has passed. That is how the AD trade details came about. But the big prize was KL and KD. KD made a decision pretty much soon after the FA period began. Kyrie followed suit. Kemba and Horford soon followed as well as other slightly lower level FAs. After KD and Klay were signed off, KL became king. The Lakers traded almost their entire core of 1st round picks in Lonzo, BI, and Hart, along with years worth of 1st round picks to get AD. Meanwhile, KL is taking his sweet freaking time making a decision. More FAs come off the board. He basically waits until late July 5th, only hours before the FA signing deadline of July 6th at noon to say fuck you suckas and sign with the freaking Clips after the Clips get weak sauce PG13 from OKC. He didn't have to do any of this wait and bait BS. In making us wait, we lost the chance for DLo....whom the Warriors got... or Brogdan... Anyway, by making us wait this long, KL made use chase after scraps again like KCP, McGee....and whatever trash is left.
Nah, man. I get the frustration, but he had the right to take the time he needed. He just won the title and left the team he won the title with. That's never happened. Ever. It was a tough decision..I suppose deciding to join the Clippers can do that to a man as well..we've also never seen that either. I'm pretty much in shock that it was the Clippers. My initial thoughts before the FA bell was that he was going back to Toronto, but he lands with the Clips? And George too? Lol Wow. That's pretty good. We lost the chance to give D'angelo $120M? Thank god. There aren't very many guys that I look at on the FA list, that I say, " yeah, I wish we could've overpaid this guy. " Way too many guys got overpaid. It's almost like 2016 again. Ariza's old ass out here getting $13M per or whatever..no sir. No thank you.
Hey, this is a Lakers town first. Then it's a Dodgers, Kings, Angels, Rams, Ducks, Chargers, then the Clips. KL has made mortal enemies of around 14.5 million of 15 million citizens of the greater LA area. Good luck with the Clips KL.
Probably the understatement of the year, but yeah..he's a weird guy. Clips finally found a superstar that's weird enough to want to deal with them. But that's OK. Because when he gets hurt..he'd better remember that the Clips signed Blake Griffin to a 5yr deal and then traded him to Detroit 6 months later.
