He was just flailing at everything in the Caribbean series. Swinging at balls not even close the plate. Just looked awful. He's already been regressing. What are we to expect? Yeah, the Caribbean series means nothing...but it doesn't inspire much confidence either.

I'd cream myself if he slugged over .500 but how do you draw this conclusion?

Expect career numbers across the board:

    .350/.420/.600 and 40/40

probably like a .750-.800 OPS. I'm kinda dreading watching him play shortstop though

Anybody have any stats about his percentage of swings at balls out of the zone over the past 3 seasons? He seems retarded and stubborn. He should be with Mark. Not Alu.

That has to be his NBOF, I'm assuming.

Nut Busts on Face percentage. .663 is pretty high, but I could see Hanley pulling that off.

This is sad news, but another Juan "flail away" Uribe is exactly what we don't need. And TB is right, the guy is stubborn, and it shows all the time.
If he regresses (I don't know how he ever hts to RF with his non-adjusting swing he has, but it goes there sometimes), along with his horrible fielding at the most important position out there, we are in for a long season. And we all know, DBB, firmy ensconced as a tier one Torre clone, will be loathe to do anything about it, I trust.
Hope it's just all a tempest in a teapot, but it is the Dodgers.
If we roll over again for the Giants with this team, instead of the flying BB logo, we should change it to a player sucking a giant elephant penis.
Because we will be the ones who are finooks, not SF.
Wow...nut busts on face...sounds about right.

Now that they test for HGH during the season, I expect about .210/260/290

We are in for a Uribe/Andruw type situation.

Dire predictions from the South Pacific, NZ.
Actually it would be worse. Both Andruw and Uribe, as bad as they were/are, can both catch the ball. and throw. Hanley however, can do neither of those.
The ball transfer thing, from glove to throwing hand and the throw takes incredibly long, too.
Maybe we are just jumping on the guy, as the impatience now is building to a crescendo....so boring. The Nothing.

    Lets hope that you're wrong...

I always thought that the SS was best filled with a perennial gold glove fielder and if he hit .230 then you just dealt with the weak spot in the lineup because he paid for himself robbing so many other people of their base hits.

And then Jeter and a select few others showed great fielding AND a .300+ AVG and everyone in baseball is looking for the next coming of an Ernie Banks/Jeter style SS.

It's like VC's looking for the next Google... yeah sure... someday...

I never heard of or paid any attention to Hanley until he became a Dodger but if can't hang at SS, doesn't hit well enough for 3B and isn't fast enough to lead off then WTF is he on the team?

Juice or no juice he needs to step up... or Kasten and the GG boys need to send him packing...

Well we got him for nothing, so no regrets there.

However, he just keeps getting worse and it's baffling. The Dodgers should be infuriated he's not reporting to camp early and working with Mark. So much talent and we shouldn't have to worry so much about this guy in terms of what we will get.

In Hanley's case it isn't the salary cost we're sweating since GG pockets are so deep, but the lost opportunities per AB. Every time he steps to the plate someone else who has worked harder, made every practice etc IS NOT getting AB. I don't know who would be best placed into that roster and lineup spot but if Hanley is blowing off this chance to excel with the Dodgers then BLOW HIM OFF already...

This season is going to have lots more to discuss than last year...
